lol Smiley Happy It's pretty bad when the people who are supposed to keep you from filing BK tell you to go ahead and file.

Oh my, you almost made me spit out my coffee. That is just funny. On a different note, wallet - you've got tons of replies but I'll tell you I've been there. My father died in 1990 and I lost my noodle for a while. I was spending hours at the hospital, barely working, ignored my student loan and Nordstrom bill. Went to 120 days on Nordie and defaulted my student loan. I played hide n seek for months, listening to the answering machine and the messages all saying the same thing. I didn't call, I just hid. I told a wise old owl what was going on and they begged me to come out of hiding and call and explain. Nordstrom is now my oldest card. When I talked to them and told them my father died and everything went to sh*t, they were so cool. They didn't close my account, they let me pay teeny tiny payments until I was current, they gave me my CL back, and although I had to wait 7 yrs for the baddies back then - I waited it out and now this is my oldest acct. Student loan offered me a program too. I consolidated 2 of them and have paid them off accordingly. Don't hide - find a way to face it, and I'm sorry you are feeling blue...

Cheezy & annie, same here. Lost father in '86, a bad time for me. That's when I went into my credit coma. It was that year I declared BK. Took care of mother until 2000. it was a very difficult time for me, as I'm an only child with no aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters to help settle estate affairs.

Getting through the difficult times make us stronger. And a strong faith and support by immediate family helps. Time heals all wounds.

Time to look toward the future, and better times ahead. Smiley Happy

Re: Depressed

Wallet,

Remember that you are not alone.  We are here to support one another.  I have some major credit repair to do myself that I screwed up for years.  I don't think that I would be able to take the steps that I need to take if I was not here.  Stay here and learn from others.  That is what I am doing.

It takes the strenght of a real person to note that a mistake was made. I am proud that you owned up to it and consulted your parents on this big decision. When you look back on how you handled this situation in years to come you will be proud that you made the right decision to reach out to your creditors. Good Luck and stay in touch with the forum.

Re: Depressed

Wallet - I just want to commend you for coming here and looking this up and taking the time to take control of the situation at your age.  At 21, I didn't have a care in the world (other than my 2 very small babies at the time) and didn't know, or care to know what to do with my debt.

Kudos to you - keep us informed.
