Did I over react ?

I have been thinking if I did right or wrong when I closed my Amex Accounts. Did I over react in closing all my Amex accounts when they did FR and asked for the returns? Should it have been better if I provided the information instead of getting upset when I hear word FR? What would have you done?

Re: Did I over react ?

Negative. Three FRs in the past 3 years? I would say no thanks as well. And like you said, you have better cards now.

I think you did.  I know it's a little crazy that you have had it 3 times but at the same time it never really has been a bad thing once you submitted, they didn't close anything and they gave you HIGH Hard Limits, I mean once you sent 1 form don't they do the rest? it's not really time consuming right? Plus I would think about the rewards way more then the issue of the 3rd FR... If you truley are going to fly JetBlue 15+ times next year that's MAJOR Money in rewards and priority, etc.!!

+1

Three in 3 years is ridiculous and shows the AMEX doesn't trust you or has some serious doubts. You don't need their business.

Re: Did I over react ?

I think you did what you had to do...but why would they FR you for 3 straight yrs?

I read a couple of your posts and you are saying you are starting a new business in the Carribeans?

If you are an independent contractor or your business has no physical entity and you move around, I can understand the FR.

Now the question for you is...have you been requesting a CLI from Amex for the L3 yrs? and has your income remained the same?

I know it's a requirement and you have to enter your annual income instead of HHI when you request for CLI.

Just trying to understand your sitatuion......

Re: Did I over react ?

Second time would have been enough, for me. I rarely travel, though. The loss really wouldn't be felt.

What kind of business? I love Carrib weather!!

Re: Did I over react ?

Don't be dramatic over it, you made a sound decision and just stick with it. If they FR me once, I'm done forever. I won't capitulate for any card, especially one that is less accepted and doesn't offer me anything I can't get elsewhere. Besides does Barclay's have a Virgin Atlantic Visa Signature?

No way. 3 FR's in 3 years, that shows no trust. I would have taken my business elsewhere too.

I've been an AMEX customer for 25 years, and I would have done exactly what you did.  So, no I don't think you over reacted at all.

3 FR's in 3 years? I would have kicked Amex to the curb too.
