Difference Between Capital One Platinum and Secured?

I have a question. What’s the difference between the Capital One platinum credit card and the Capital One Secured Mastercard? I see a lot of people referring to the Platinum Card than the secures Card. Is the starting credit limit higher in the Platinum Card compared to the secured Card?

They are exactly the same, the only difference being that the secured version is secured (or sometimes partially secured) with a deposit that will serve as your credit limit. The secured version starts at a minimum of $200 (if you're eligible though you may only end up putting down $99 or $49 for the initial $200 limit), but you can send them more than that for a higher limit - I don't remember the maximum off the top of my head but I think it's somewhere between like $1,200 and $3,000, shouldn't be hard to look up if you're curious. They will give you an automatic CLI on the secured version as long as you do everything by the book and don't pay late or go over your limit or anything after your 5th statement (so 6 months), not sure how much exactly if you have more than the minimum CL but if you have $200 they'll raise it to $500, and they start reviewing to graduate/unsecure/return your deposit beginning at 11 months (or maybe it's actually 11 statements, so 12 months, I'd have to double check).

As for the regular version I believe the minimum starting limit is $300 and if you get that then I think they also do the automatic CLI after the 5th statement to $500, also not sure about the details if you start out a little higher than that though someone else will have to chime in here

Aside from those technicalities both cards look exactly the same, show up the same on the capital one app, and look the same on your credit report (mine at least shows as a regular credit card, vs my [now unsecured!] secured discover which showed up as secured on the CRs - this doesn't actually affect anything though unless maybe someone ends up doing some manual underwriting, and even then not sure if it really matters much)
