Discover CLI failed - Recon or not?

Hey,

Last thursday, at the day of my 4th statement cut, i've tried to request a CLI on my Discover from $1k to $5k and have been declined. No letter with reasons so far.

Is it too late now to call for a recon, and should i call to recon or credit analyst numbers in the backdoor numbers if it still makes sense?

My other data:

FICO from Discover - 741

Cards & limits:

Discover - Aug 2013 - $200/$1k

Amex - Aug 2013 - $1.3k/$10k

Chase Mariott - Aug 2013 - $1.9k/$7k

Chase United - Aug 2013 -$0/$6k

Barclays - Aug 2013 -$45/$1.3k

GECRB/Amazon - Aug 2013 -$0/1.7k

GECRB/Walmart - Aug 2013 - $0/$600

If you took a HP, definitely recon. I've been trying for a SP CLI for 6 months and have always been told no. It has been SD'ed since November and I only use it for a monthly $7 charge. When I see a CLI, then I will use it more often. Good luck to you.

was it a HP or SP?
If SP, then they'll require a HP if you want to continue with the CLI request.

If they did a HP, what did the analyst tell you over the phone? Otherwise, wait for the letter. Go through the reasons why you were denied. If you think you can come up with a convincing argument for them to approve the CLI request, call back again.

I agree with the previous poster. If you took an HP, definitely recon.

Here's the direct number to Discover CLI department that I used.
