Hey guys so I have had a Discover IT card for almost 5 months now, I was approved for a security depsoit I made for $500. My question if anyone has any info on how they deal with graduation of their secured credit card. Do I need to ask for it or does Discover automatically graduate?
The way I have been using the card is I charge up to 90% of the limit then pay it off back down to 0% before the statement date so It is always reported with 0% utilization but used heavily in between and paid off completely.
How do I handle or by when should I expect to have it graduated to a full fledged Discover IT non secured?
Hey everybody,
Any opinions on this strategy? I actually was Just approved for a Discover It Secured and planned on doing the same thing. I travel for work so filling it up and paying it off will actuall be quite easy for me. Just want to make sure I should also be paying it back down all the way to 0. Should I leave a couple dollars on it to "show that it's being used" or anyhthing like that?
Thanks!
If it's your only card, let it report a small balance
Discover likes to be used so be sure to use it but as far as an unsecure date, it's impossible to tell.
Many unsecure around 7 months, mine's almost 3 1/2 years old and is still secured and they absolutely will not consider manual reviews, they say it's just done automatically so calling about it won't give you anything other them telling you they start the review process at 7 months.
Best of luck to you and I hope you see a graduation in a few short months!

Whats your scores.. Have you thought of just trying for a preapproval for a new card?
You now can have 2 discover cards....
Think your card is just stuck...
Some folks also have reported getting a card with SP only... but do sign up for credit scorecard before trying the preapproval...
Also could just close it and reapp....
