Discover It future payment ?

Hi all,

 I have just ran into something I am not sure about.

I usually go in and setup a future payment on my account.

I went to do so just now and it will not let me schedule a payment after my closing date of the 8th of this month.

I wanted to setup a payment for the 9th, before the close date of the 13th but no dates after the 8th are selectable.

Anyone know if this is normal? I do not recall this on my previous statements, but not sure I tried.

Just hope that it will let me after the 8th so I can have a lower statement balance.

Schedule an ACH push from your bank billpay.
This way you can manage all your bills in a centralised manner. Paying on CC website is useful when you need it to post on the same day.

Discover will not let you schedule any payment that has not posted to your account. That's the one downside about Discover

Do you mean they don't let you pay more than your current balance?

He means you cannot pay more than your current posted balance. Say your posted balance is $100 with $50 in pending charges, you can only pay the $100. You cannot pay on the pending charges.

Does any credit card let you pay more than the current balance?

Capital One will allow you to pay posted balance +10% of that balance. You however can not pay in advance on pending charges, which I wish you could because they are taking for ever to post pendings now a days.

I've noticed this with Capital One as well, but didn't know the specific amount. After paying my statement balance, I'm unable to pay that amount but it allows for me to make another payment. I'm not terribly concerned with paying ahead because I just pay the statement balances. If I'm grooming the reported balances so all but one card reports 0, I'll put more work into it.

I don't see anything in the interface for Barclays that prevents you from paying more than your current balance. They might deny the request when it starts to go to the payment confirmation screen however, never tried.

My phone bill always posts at the same time my statement cuts every month, leaving me no way to pay it from the Discover site unless I wait until after the statement. This month, I am expirimenting with pushing a payment from my bank to be there at the same time. Hopefully it will work. Maybe try that.

 I don't know what the heck is going on, I have a 700.00 balance (not pending) I wanted to setup pament on for the 9th, before the statement closes on the 13th.

I was a bit confusing in my first post, as my payment due date is the 8th, it will nly allow me to pay today to the 8th, cannot setup a payment between the due date and the statement close date. That will not be good for me to have that large a blalance on this statement, but do not have the funds set to  move over until the 9th to pay it.

Before this week I could have sworn I was able to pick a date to pay anytime in the current month, now I have only the next 2 days, seems odd.
