My 2 week old Discover IT card is on the Chopping block. Huge junk card compared to my Capital One QS card. As soon as i pay the balance transfer and get rewards if those 2 items even go through i will call them and cancel and tell them that discover is a junk company to do business with.
Discover cons:
Android app layout is junk.
Slow balance transfer processing if it even goes through.
Cannot make lots of payments using the app or the website - ran out of dates to make payments. Holy molley. Gotta manually send them checks now. What a waste of technology.
Slow to process everything - payments - transactions - rewards.
With Capital One everythings works the first time period.
Thanks for reading my vents.
I have noticed that Discover is slower than others in posting transactions and payments. If that's a dealbreaker for you, then that's up to you. For me, I don't care that much. In your first year, you are getting 10% back in bonus categories and 2% on everything. That is well worth some delays, imo. And I'm a heavy user with tiny limits that really needs transactions to post quickly.

WOW!
I have had my Disco since December and I have not had even one of the problems that you've encountered.
Android app layout is junk. -- Sounds like it's the Android. I have an iPhone and the layout works perfectly for me! And like anything in life, a few tweaks could/would make it better.
Slow balance transfer processing if it even goes through. - Haven't done a BT so can't respond to this one.
Cannot make lots of payments using the app or the website - ran out of dates to make payments. Holy molley. Gotta manually send them checks now. What a waste of technology. I have made up to 3 payments a months, every month via desktop and mobile, without a single problem. Of course, I push my payments instead of pull. Why send checks when you can use Bill Pay through your bank? It's 2017, Holy, Molley!
Slow to process everything - payments - transactions - rewards. - My payments and transactions post th next day. Yeah, they post the next day. And? That's definitely fast enough for me. IMHO, if one needs it to post the same day, sounds like one might be using their maximum CL. Just a guess.
Of course, as anything in life, YMMV, but Discover is almost definitely not a trash card, or a trash company.
I have to agree about the slowness of their transactions and payments posting. This is not a card you can max out and pay off multiple times in a month. Maybe 2-3 times, no more. But, if that is the case, just use you QS for that. Discover is still a decent card though with decent benefits. The iPhone app rocks too, no complaints there at all.

Also, isn't bonus spend limited to $1500 a quarter? At even a $500 CL, you're going to max out the 5% and not have that benefit. At that point, it makes sense to go back to the 2% QS.
If you max it out and pay it off 3 times a month, you're going to max out the bonus within 30 days. Either way, Disc should work for anyone. It just takes time to build trust (in both directions)
I never, ever knew anyone had a "feeling" about what card they pulled oiut of their wallet. Wow.
If by chance some other person cared about what card someone uses, then THAT person is the one with the problems and the small mind. If my date cared about such silliness, she/he would NEVER see me again. It doesn't make a difference if the card is from The Bank of Fred Flintstone. Did it go through? Nothing more need be said.
As many times as I have been with people during a purchase, I can't say I even looked at (nor cared) what card they used. But hey, maybe I'm the odd one out.
We've talked about people not noticing cards in the past...and specifically no one noticing (or caring) about the Member Since date on AMEX.
Tonight, at In-N-Out, the clerk commented on my BCP (he liked it...I guess someone has to )
Still didn't notice the Member Since date, tho.

Yeah, my limit is still at $400 (secured), and it only takes me about 6 weeks to max out the quarter bonus.
I will say that Discover's "conservative" approach does seem a little strange. From what others have said, they prefer a thinner profile and would prefer you not have a bunch of other cards, but their conservative approach and limits, along with slower posting times means that for a lot of people, they will need to have other cards if they spend a lot and want to maximize rewards. I do love Discover, but that approach does seem a little odd (though it obviously must work for them).
Barring a major change, Citi will likely always be the card I use the most. Aside from the nice rewards structure, they make it very easy to use the card a lot. The transactions/payments post so fast that the limit really doesn't matter that much.
OP it is always YMMV, if one bank does not work for you, you can take your business elsewhere. I do not think it will make any difference to any bank if they lose one average customer. Also, lets not forget that 'all' the cashback programs that exist today are here thanks to discover.
