I have a Discover More Card with a $2,500 limit. I am considering closing the card and applying for a Discover It Card. Has anyone done this? Curious of the impact it will have on my credit score. Thoughts?
Before you close out the card, call Discover and ask if you can change your Discover More to a Discover It. It will keep your age of account current, and won't impact you as much as a brand new account. If you do wind up feeling like applying for the Discover It, PM me and I'll get you a link for a $50 sign up credit.
You can request they change you current card to the IT i think. You'd skip the new app process. It could result in a closed account
Yup... just call and ask to PC (product change) to the IT card. MANY on this forumn have done it including me. A quick painless call.

If only the CLI process was just as painless, eh?

PC'ing is painless. In this case, it's infinitely superior to a new app, since $50 isn't worth a new HP and account, in my view. There's no reason to keep the More. The IT is better since it earns 1% cashback right off the bat, unlike the More where you have to spend $3,500 at 25 bps before the 1% kicks in.
The *ONLY* reason to app for the More was the $200 sign-up bonus, then transfer to the IT. I can't think of any reason why a More holder wouldn't PC to the IT, unless there's a card design that's unavailable, or something along those lines.
Thanks so much for the help! I will call and ask for PC!
