Discover and AAoA

Got preapproval letter for Discover More. Debating whether I should apply or not. Anyone know what their requirement is for AAoA? Mine is about 1.2 years. I only have three credit cards (June 2008, March 2011, and July 2011). No baddies. EQ is 740 and TU 730.

I believe you will be accepted if you don't have any baddies and decent CLs at least around 1k..

My oldest CC was about 5 months old when I apped and was approved for Discover. I do have an open auto loan that is 1 1/2 years old though. I think you should be good with the preapproval providing your accounts are and have been in good standing.

Congrats on your approval! Take care of it and it should grow.

It seems most of Discover's preapprovals are pretty strong right now.

Not to TJ, but my DH just received an invite to apply in the mail a few days ago. His scores are only in the low to mid 600s. And, he's opted out. He hasn't pulled the trigger, and is undecided if he should go for it or not -- he has two baddies on his reports. Any idea how Discover decides who to send the offers to?

Re: Discover and AAoA

I never received offers by mail or thru their site until I opted in. I have read a few people received preapprovals by mail recently, so not sure what triggers the mailings.

I was approved with one bad on my CR, about 5 1/2 years old, not a CC or loan (tow service?).

Thanks for the info. The baddies I mentioned aren't CC related, so he may give it a shot. He's done great with his rebuilder cards this past year. The offer's good for a few weeks, so I'll see what he decides to do. Frankly, I'd be beyond thrilled if they approved him for even a small limit, as it's a foot in the door with a prime issuer. If not, he can just sit back and continue to build with what he has.
