So for the first time, today the option was available for me to request an increase over the phone. I put in my income/housing payment, it said it needed more information, and started to transfer me to a representative, and I hung up. We'll see... got a small increase several months ago (<$500) - this card has my lowest limit so hoping to get a bit of increase. Tried relatively recently online and they wouldn't do it without a hard pull, so not expecting much.
I did a CLI request online, got a generic 7-10 day message. Called in and spoke to a rep, she verified my info and instantly approved my $3k CLI without a hard pull! My limit when I opened the card in April this year was $3500, then auto CLI to $3900 last month, and now I'm at $6900!
I've ran $13,500 through the card since it was opened, so that may have something to do with it. I usually PIF but have been leaving $1k balance on it for the last 3 months.
Love Discover!
Yeah, the discover phone option (once it becomes available) is something special. I did it on Black Friday after a surprising increase from CapOne, Discover matched my highest limit again. I really haven't used it that much but they always seem to match my highest limit.
I started at $5,600 - $9,000 (via online, almost matched Sallie Mae but matched Amex after the 3X-CLI was reporting for a month or so) - now $13,000 which matches NFCU that I got in October.
In my experience it would be within 3-4 months.
It was six months for me. I was given an increase after 6 then initiated an increase after 6 more.
Wow! I just tried the automated phone line after reading this thread. I got my Discover in February of this year with a CL of 8800 and then requested an online CLI which was approved for 2K extra in August. After reading through this thread, I did the CLI request on the phone. I was going to hang up after entering my salary and housing amount but then a voice came back with an approval for a 3K CLI for a total of 13,800 - just beating my Amex CL (my DC hasn't yet reported). So far, Discover and Amex are pretty good to me with SP CLIs - Barclays is another story...
I've been battling Discover since I got it - they are my lowest CL and aren't budging. I decided to call the # on the back of my card and there is no option for CLI request on the "More options" menu.
