On 9/28/22 i tried to do a bt on the discover site, 2400 from my bread cb amex to my new disco 6k sl 15 months at zero bt offer with cut off date of 10/10. It wouldnt allow me to do it on the site so i called disco and a csr put it thru. the 2400 showed up as a balance on my disco but every time i checked recently my bread amex was the same balance.
Last night i get an email from disco stating the following,
We are writing regarding the following Balance Transfer on your Discover it® Card Account:
October 3, 2022 $2,400.00 AMERICAN EXPRESS
Unfortunately, we are not able to process your Balance Transfer at this time, for one of the reasons below:
•Your account number with the creditor is incorrect
•The check was not cashed by the creditor within 90 days
•Your account with the creditor is already paid in full
•The check was returned by the U.S Postal Service
•The check was stopped per customer request
Then i checked my disco balance and it said zero. i called customer service and talked to a csr and a supervisor and confirmed that i gave them the correct account number but the postal service returned the check and since im past the 10/10 cutoff date they cant offer a replacement bt. the supervisor offered to give me a cli on my disco# 1 because i have a bt offer for 12 months at zero but when he checked he noticed i just got a cli on that card last month for 1500, bringing the cl on that card to 4500.
my balance on card #1 is 569 so i didnt want to add 2400 to that and have my util sky high. i asked to join the 2 cards but the supervisor said they werent eligible.
I think what happened is disco might have sent the bt check to amex directly instead of to comenity capital bank since it is a cobranded card.
Anyway the supervisor told me he is putting in a ticket for upper management to review this since he cant over ride it and redo the bt since its past the cutoff date of 10/10. Fingers crossed it will get rectified or it will cost me a bundle in bread interest going forward.
UGH
Well that's just annoying...
I know you will, but please keep us posted. Hopefully they can see the error on their end and make things right, with another BT offer, at the very least
Cheers!

Hope it gets rectified. But wasn't there an option to put in the payment address when requesting the BT?
I hope it turns out in your favor and they make this right .
I am always leary about creditors sending payment and really only like to take advantage of the ones that allow you to request the BT amount into your checking like discover or send you direct checks you can deposit into your own account .
What a mess. I hope they iron it out soon. I wouldn't give up on it and I'd insist that they'd make it right. Good luck!

When i originally wanted to do the bt i wished to do it from the site, the site wouldnt let me get past step one, a popup told me i couldnt do a bt, then i called cs to do it

Lets see if disco makes it right, i did nothing wrong on my end. if worse comes to worse ill take a lesser amount bt on my disco # 1 which has a current zero for 12 months bt offer but that card only has a 4500 cl and i have a present balance on it of 569.
Card # 2 has zero balance and a 6000 cl.

Yes but even when you called in, they didn't ask for a payment address?

No the csr didnt ask for the address, just the card number only, not even the bank.
I had all of that info written down on a paper right in front of me when i called, i had written it down before i made the try at an online bt.
i've done bt's before so i knew the drill, ive never done a bt thru a csr so i didnt mention the bank or address thinking the csr must know that info because she sounded confident and usually online once you punch in the card number the bank pops up. i made no mistakes, lets hope they rectify this. In my mind i think they should honor that timely bt request and redo it again.
EDIT - The csr mentioned it was an amex after i gave her the card number, i have no clue what popped up on her screen. this episode might help someone else that might encounter this issue with disco, make sure you give the csr the bank and address regardless of what they say to you.
SEMI UPDATE - I called again today and spoke to a Discover supervisor. She looked up the transaction and told me the snarl took place when they entered the Bread cb Amex card number and it auto populated American Express's adress not the Comenity Capital bank address. once again they are reconsidering putting thru the transaction again with the correct address, she said they will contact me in a day or two.
fingers crossed.
