Greetings all,
burned Discover in 2012 for about 1500 bucks. Never paid them back. Charged off fell off my report about 2 years ago. I have tried numerous times their pre approval link and always comes back as "prior outstanding relationship". Last time I tried was a couple of months ago.
Today I decided to try it again and I got 3 offers. Is this legit? Does it mean I'm no longer blacklisted by discover? please shed some light to see if the hard pull is worth it.
Fico score sitting at 730 across 3 bureaus, inquiries are low for equifax and transunion in the last 12 months. Thanks
I guess it all depends on how much you want their card and get back in with them.
If you ask me... I think it's worth the hp!
A brief history...
Burned them for over $6K in my BK7 dc 2011. Got back in 2015 with an $800 SL. Scores in the high 600s with single digit inquiries on file at time of app.
It's always YMMV but I say do it!

Imo you burned them and I think a hp is the least you could offer to even see if they will give another chance. Even if denied, at least they gave you prequels and an opportunity to apply. Plus you will know where you stand. Any chance we can get back in with a lender WE burnt and they allow us back in is a blessing.
My very recent experience (this week) is that their Pre-Approval is dead on. I was approved off of one after having not been pre-approved several times over the past year or two. I had an old dismissed CH13 BK. It fell off Monday and on Wednesday I re-apped Disco with the aforementioned results.

The way I look at it, it might mean you're out of the doghouse and it might not.
The preapproval might be based purely on a soft pull which doesn't show the chargeoff. But the actual application isn't going to overlook the internal history.
If it were me, I would go for it. It's worth a hard pull.

My situation is very similar to yours. About the same amount I think mine was $1200 and it was 2012 also. I was just able to get back with them in December. They gave me a $3000 SL. I would definitely apply.
Some DP for the community here. I decided to pull the trigger. I was approved and I'm thankful nonetheless however the credit limit was only 2k. Considering I have much higher limits it seems low. Still happy they gave me a chance though. Just wanted to share, have a blessed day.

Congratulations on your approval!
It may be a low starting limit, but you're in the door now and hopefully the account will grow over time.
Congrats on your approval! My experience with Discovery is that they give CLIs pretty quickly. I started about 2 years ago with a $200 secured card, now have unsecured card wtih $3000 limit. I asked for my first bump, and they gave me two more over the past year.
