Hi all,
I am planning on applying for CSP in a couple of days and I am debating if it's worth it.
So, I currently have CFU which completely outsets CSP by cashback in every single category.
However, CSP offers 80k points bonus, but to get that I will have to swipe CSP instead of CFU that leads to points loss, not a big one tho.
Also, CSP will allow me to redeem points at 1.25%.
So, I am not sure if its worth it having a card which I am not going to be even swiping after hitting SUB, like what just for a redemption and points? I mean 80k points sounds like a lot.
Any thoughts?

The SUB alone is worth picking up the card since it's a limited time offer and very doubtful it will be back once it expires next month. Better if you have a SO/friend/family member that already has the card so you can nab the referral bonus as well. There is a good chance next year Chase will do some type of revamping of the Sapphire lineup as well. With all that I think it's worth burning a credit card slot to nab the SUB and see what Chase does to improve the card. You can always cancel it after the first year if doesn't hold any appeal to you

From a purely rewards point of you, yes, it's worth it! Assuming you simply cash out the points (rather than using them in the travel portal or transferring them), the SUB is worth $800.
Against that, you have the $95 fee, and you put $4000 getting 2x (CSP) rather than 3x (CFU) which costs an additional $40.
So you are +$665, and if you use the URs on the portal, you get $190 more (SUB is worth $200 more, but the lost URs are worth $10 more!)
So, if you are going to get a card really for the SUB, the question is whether you can do better. Probably not with one card, although if you can get cards with small subs for small spends, you might do better, but at the cost of more new (possibly) useless cards.

I think that Lyft 5X is still higher than CFU so if you use that
If you have a verified pre-approval for the CSP, go for ir. They are basically giving you $800 (cash value) or more depending on what you do wit the SUB to spend $4k on their card. In cash back % or points terms, it's basically a 20% cashback card on your first $4K spend on it, in addition to the 1x, 2x or 5x catergory spending you might put on it.

Of course the CSP is worth it if you can land the SUB.
1) Ability to transfer your CFU points to airline partners. I used 50,000 of my CSP bonus to get at 20% transfer to SWA. That amounted to 60,000 SWA points which typically go around 1.49 ccp there. Moving my points to Hyatt I can do far better than that.
2) Doordash pass is free with the CSP (saves you like $10 per order).
3) Bonus point promotions. For example in Q3 this year gas was 3x right as I was traveling for the holidays. Starting in November groceries are now going to be 2x.
Its the key card for being able to maximize URs. Easier to qualify for than the Reserve and more bonus points.
OP--I'm in sort of the same boat right now. I've been going back and forth between CSP and Citi Premier. Both are $95 AF cards--however if redeeming for cash TYPs are only worth .5cpp--not 1cpp like URs. Plus I had CSP for 6 years up until August of this year when I PC'd it to CFU--and now with the 3% dining on FU I'm getting a lot more use out of it. CSP would probably end up back in the sock drawer for me after hitting the SUB spend just like my old one did unless they did a revamp before the end of 2 years.

If you're already in the Chase ecosystem, doesn't it make more sense to just stay in it? Having CFU is a bonus. 3% on dining when transferred is equivilent to 3.75 UR per $1 spent on it. That's a pretty good deal. If you look at the card in isolation, that deal doesn't look as sweet anymore but it's hard to beat as a combo. And if you throw in Chase Freedom (Flex) as well, that card's value goes up even more. Sure, the spend isn't really going on CSP (except for travel for that insurance when you need it) but the spend going through it is valuable.
Are you planning to travel and can use the travel partners becuz that is where you get outsize value. Right now I'm just using points for swa flights but my value is around 1.7 cents. If you want cashback this is not the card for that

Not planning to leave the Chase ecosystem--just wondering if it's worth it to get a card back I really didn't have much use for the first time I had it just for the SUB. Right now I have roughly 100k URs--not 100% sure at this point how exactly they will be spent--but I always like to be able to have cash as an option--preferrably at 1cpp.
