I'm also curious about this, I was also wondering if it also counts to accounts your an AU on that are less than 2 yrs old?
I believe it is 5 accounts regardless of what type of account it is. However.... my experience has been that the rule does not apply to their co-branded cards like Southwest, Marriott, etc. Others may have had different outcomes but the 5/24 rule did not apply to the co-branded card I was approved for recently.

From what Chase has explained to me, they do not factor in AU accounts.
Only accounts that belong to you.
the chase rule applies to applying for their in house cards, Slate, Freedom and Chase Sapphire Prefered.
I can say first hand I have been approved for several co-branded chase cards this year with way more than 5 new accounts.
Confirmed. The 5/24 rule does not apply to the co-branded cards.
I'm really questioning whether the 5 "new accounts" include other types of credit, not just credit cards........
thanks

Really? I thought I'd read it was AU's too. Is this the consensus - primary only?
