I had a CO with Citi, they deleted their reporting last month, then informed me that they had sold the debt to a CA. I paid the CA in full in exchange for not reporting.
As of right now I don't have the scores to get in with Citi, but in the future, once my scores have improved will I be able to do business with them again, or will the doors be closed because I burned them in the past?
What companies do blacklist and is there anyway to know if you are blacklisted with them?

Yes Citi blacklists All banks do to some extent. CapitalOne seems by far to have the shortest memory. Others hold grudges for many years. The only way to know if you are blacklisted is to apply. Some banks wont even process the application. Others will process them but then deny based on past problems. Its impossible to know how llong you will or wont be on a blacklist. It definitely helps that you paid the chargeoff. My suggestion would be, when your scores are in range, is to apply and see what happens. Even if you're denied because of the chargeoff you mght be able to determine how long that will last.

Although you paid the CA off as far as Citi is concerned there is still a bad taste in their mouth. I will not say they don't forgive forever but it is a mystery when they will let you back in. Eventually they will even if your scores are strong. No one really knows when that day will be. If it were me i would not worry of them for a long time and focus my efforts on banks that wanted to do business with me. thats just me. Honestly I finally get in with citi last spring. I can't say that im impressed with them. but i am glad to be in there with em.
I had a Gateway/CBNA account CO years ago, but no longer reporting. I have read posts on here, that if it is a store/CBNA account, it is not the same as burning Citibank, or being blacklisted by Citi. Does anyone know if that is true or not? Are they seperate entities? Also, does Citi HP if blacklisted?
here is my personal experience with citi. I went Chp 13 with them in 1989. Two years ago, I tried to get a card with them and they turned me down because of it. I've heard some people have gotten back in with them, so your YMMV.

The only method to find out is whenever you apply. There are several known outcomes that can result based on your past negative experience with Citi Retail Services. While the parent company may not necessarily "blacklist" you, the Retail Services arm could - it just depends on the CO timeframe, amount, paid/unpaid, IIB, etc. Some individuals have been able to rebuild a relationship with Cit Retail Services despite the previous negative history. Citi can HP if blacklisted - YEMV.
It's been over 7 years since I burned Citi, but they've been sending me "pre-approved" offers in the mail weekly. As they have some pretty good targeted offers, I will probably give it a shot on my next spree.

Thanks FinStar. Citi Retail Services is the store card parent company? The CO was under $1K, unpaid, Gateway computers, which tells you how old it is. Opened at $3.5K. I didnt even know CBNA stood for Citi until just recently, right before it aged off. So applying for Citi branded card, not a good idea, or be ready to use a HP?
