Yeah literally just went thru this benefit a few days ago while processing an upgrade on my ED to EDP. Walmart is a no-go in the grocery category for sure.

Source: AMEX
One of the reasons AMEX has "lucrative" Grocery points earning cards is that they know a good 40% of nationwide spend where people are buying groceries are simply not "AMEX Groceries" so they do 1 point or 1% at a large share of the market.
Within Kroger family of stores, there's also variation about which will code AMEX Groceries. Fred Meyer in my experience does not. Ralph's in So Calif does, a chain in Hawaii that is Kroger does. QFC does code AMEX Groceries.
@Yasselife wrote:I read an old post from this year that Walmart neighborhood Market (not superstore) codes as groceries. Can someone confirm this? It makes sense since WNM only sells groceries.
I think someone mentioned this upthread also.
There are so few neighborhood walmarts left in my area.
I only have a navy more rewards which processes through the amex network, but I might go to that walmart and try just to see (gotta shop food for the Iron Bowl anyway)
@Yasselife wrote:I am planning to do the same taking Amex BCP with me. I'll report back.
I purchased at the Neighboorhood walmart saturday, but charge hasn't posted yet of course.
However I did find this link in another thread and it does cat the walmart i went to as a "Supermarket & Grocery" versus the walmart supercenter in my area which they cat as a "Discount Department Store"
Pls let us know, I have both in my area at same 1.5 miles from me. I had to go to the Supercenter yesterday to get something else and won't do groceries again until 5 days.
3x points at neighborhood Walmart Vs 1x points at Walmart supercenter
Thank you for the help. You saved me some gas. This is good news, and I hope more people see it.
