I have asked Discover and Synchrony Bank and they send it to the credit bureaus immediately with no problems. Usually updates within 48-72 hours.
I recently paid my statement balance in full and wanted them to send that to the bureaus so I called to ask for an off-cycle report.
I literally felt like I was in another world. They told me it will take 7-10 days for their back office to review it and another 7-10 days to be sent and could take 1 to 2 billing cycles to update!! What the hell?!?!
Honestly I have no words. Them buying Discover is making me more and more depressed every day.
Just a heads up on off-cycle reporting from Capital One. Don't waste your time!
I am DREADING this acquisition and feel like it double-downed my agony after reading a news article that TD Bank's CEO recently defected over to Cap1. Discover is one of my best cards; Cap1 & TD are easily my worst cards. Hopefully the Discover standards & products won't go to level & vision of the leadership at Cap1.
Off cycle reporting is an exception and not usually done on request. Typically you need a valid reason such as being in the mortgage process because it costs them money to do so. In addition, some lenders will list it as a dispute and note your file on the bureaus as such so one should be careful. While discover may have done it in the past, there's no guarantee they would continue. Sounds like they want to review your file.

I got an email after I requested it and it said dispute. I didn't want a dispute and was annoyed and called back and the rep told me that's what they call an off-cycle report request!! What? That makes no sense.
Then I asked for it to be canceled was told it couldn't be canceled!! But the rep noted my account I didn't want it now and was told that would suffice.
Anyways, never again gonna ask for an off-cycle report with Cap1. Heck No!!
Most big banks are not Agile. As noted above, this is an exception type of request and in this case, needed certain approvals.
Sorry.
FYI, Chase does happen to report off cycle when balances are paid.
So here is an update and it gets even worse!!
I called today because I was having trouble activating my Quicksilver product upgrade on my bucketed Platinum. I was told that my account is now flagged for collections!! I have made every payment on time and I used the **bleep** card today!
I told the representative about the off-cycle report request I made yesterday and she told me Capital One stopped doing off-cycle reporting for at least 1 year!! I mean are you kidding me?
I spoke to 4 clueless "customer service and supervisors" yesterday from Capital One and NONE OF THEM told me or obviously knew that they don't do off-cycle reporting anymore!! And what's worse is the one guy decides to open a dispute thinking that this is the off-cycle reporting method by Capital One!!
So now my account is ridiculously flagged for collections when it shouldn't be.
I'm on hold now and spoke to a collections specialist who told me my account is in good standing and she doesn't understand why my account was flagged for collections!
So she has me on hold and is trying to work with her specialist to delete this dispute based on the bad or lack of correct information I received yesterday.
Can you believe this? Capital One customer service ladies and gentlemen! Discover is gonna get ruined when Cap1 take it over, and by ruined I mean the customer service is gonna go so downhill!! What a shame.

Td Bank is the same way. They report it as a dispute and it takes about 3 weeks to update.

In three weeks would it matter?

That was my whole point to the clueless reps yesterday!! I said what kind of off-cycle reporting is this because in 3 or 4 weeks it won't matter!! They had no answers.
Why couldn't I get a competent representative to tell me Cap1 doesn't do off-cycle reports anymore? Then there would be no other issues for me smh. Sigh...
It's great that you're here and learning, but you're doing too much. You've just caused yourself an unnecessary situation for probably no benefit whatsoever. As evident by your other posts, you're building/ rebuilding and right now less is more. We've all been there early in our journeys. We get excited about updates and higher scores, so I'm not being a **bleep** when I say this, but sit on your hands for a bit or just give back to the community in the way people have for you. Your time will come
