Good job.
Like any bank a relationship can be very "ymmv" I know the big initiative for the instore locations is Customer Experience above all else. 24hour banking is probably the worst route you can take for solving an issue. They seem to be very untrained if they are new which is sad. That said I do believe that credit unions have members in mind more than big banks do from what I can see. However big banks know how competitive the market is getting and are behaving accordingly. US Bank isnt the only bank that encourages you to apply for a new card when your credit improves (for example cap one). If it was me I would just close the small limit cards I dont want and keep the big ones but what do i know? I dont like to complain when banks upset me. It is what it is.

Personal banking with a credit union works perfectly for me and so does business banking with Chase and Bofa for investments with merrill lynch. It's just their credit card service absolutely sucks. On top of catching their first line cc in lie and the lack of technology on apps, customer service, wait times, and let's face it it 2016 and we are accustomed to instant results not 10 business days for any issue. I'm still waiting on a resolution from April. That's way too long for a simple fix
Totally agree!

@Tim_S wrote:I am right behind you! I've been with US Bank for about 10 years now. I've had a $300 credit limit on one of their credit cards for 10 years and they refuse to increase my limit. They've issued me different cards with MUCH higher limits but refuse to increase the limit on my platinum card that I've had the longest, (I don't want to cancel it because I'll lose the age of the account). Not that it's going to make any difference to them, but I'm taking my $40,000 checking/savings balance to Chase.
Mmmm. A different way of reporting this would be "Fortunately, they have since given me cards with MUCH higher limits, so no problem."
Are you planning to use the platinum card for anything (and if so, why!) If not, why does the low limit matter at all. So long as the cards you use have good limits, sounds like US Bank is doing OK for you. You really don't need all cards to "grow", so long as you have enough credit for your needs.
I can see both sides of this argument. No matter what I do, US will NOT give me a CLI. But they keep throwing more credit my way (have a high-CL card! have a PLOC!)
Kind of surprised to hear about a $300 Plat. I was sold that card as a low-APR, high-CL, no-frills kind of card. Also, like a 15-month 0% APR. I've been using it for some home repairs that I don't get from Lowes.
My 2nd card was a $500 Kroger card. Last time I asked, they wouldn't give me a CLI on the card because I haven't used it for 3 years (seems fair)
When I moved to m my current, Kroger-less location, I went to my branch and asked about PCing the card. The banker instead got me a rewards card with a $2k limit (largest limit at the time). Then, unsolicited, after hooking me up with a PLOC, my local banker in my new town called to offer me the Plat card I mentioned above.
Although not stellar, US Bank has treated me professionally and fairly. I understand frustration with their policies, but plan to stick with them...for now.
It seemd more and more peopel are having a hard time with US Bank theses days...I wonder what has happened to them.
Sorry to hear that the OP has had such a negative exp. with US Bank My own experience over the years with them has been mixed -- there was also a time where I thought I'd never do business with them ever again (after they did a RJ on me from 9.99% V to 19.99%+ V during CARD Act, which I declined and then paid off in full at the previous rate). However, a while back when I heard about the 5% category benefits of their Cash+ card and the recent removal of the $5k min CL cap limit to be approved for Cash+ and the lesser Cash Rewards product being removed if not approved for Cash+, the temptation to apply for the Cash+ was just too much to resist, lol. Long story short, I apped for the Cash+ not too long ago, was instantly declined despite having steller credit scores and no baddies, so I called in to recon and was very pleasantly surprised to learn the very next day that I had been approved despite the earlier denial. YMMV of course.
I feel for you. US Bank bought out my bank some years back, ( PFF Savings and loan ), and everything went downhill from then on as far as I am concerned. They did nothing but lie about several dealings with me, so I stopped doing anymore business with them. I do have a mortgage with them that was with my old bank. I quit using my Cash+ card and LOC about 2 yrs ago. I thought they would have cancelled those cards by now. As others have said, just move on to greener pastures. Good luck to you.
