Earning points faster with PRG?

Is there any other tricks to earn points faster with AMEX PRG besides grocery, travel etc. Can extra points be earned shopping online with select merchants like you can do with Chase or Barclays?

AMEX PRG NPSL, FIDELITY REWARDS 50K, CHASE SAPPHIRE RESERVE 27K, AMEX DELTA SKYMIES GOLD 25K, CITI DIAMOND PREFERRED 22K, CHASE FREEDOM 20K, CITI DOUBLE CASH 15.5K, BARCLAYCARD REWARDS MASTERCARD 15K, CHASE MARRIOTT PREMIER 5K, CAPITAL ONE SONY CARD 5.75K, CAPITAL ONE QUICKSILVER 3.5K, AMAZON STORECARD 6K, VICTORIAS SECRET 2650, EXPRESS NEXT 1850,Gardening2/17/17.

Re: Earning points faster with PRG?

You can earn 5000 points by referring a person to open a PRG. You get the points on the statement after they open the card not if / when they meet minimum spend.

Quick Silver 2k - Discover 4.3K - Chase Freedom 7.6K - Venture 13K
Citi Double Cash 3.5K - Amex SPG 5K - CSP 5K - Arrival+ 3K
SW Premiere 5K - Citi TY Premiere 3.7K - FNBO Sun Country 3.6K
BOA Cash Rewards 5K - DCU Platinum 10K - Spirit 5K

Re: Earning points faster with PRG?

Thanks for posting this question.  To be honest I have not studied closely on how to maximize rewards with my PRG.  But it seems to be a good program with

3X for flights booked with airlines

2X points at US gas stations

2X points at US supermarkets

1X points on other purchases

Problem for now is I can't see how these rewards are better than the following:

3% cashback on airline booking

2% cashback at gas stations

2% cashback at supermarkets

1% cashback on other purchases?

I've seen far better cashback deals than the PRG so as far as my love for PRG goes I'm not sure how far it will go considering every product I have seems to offer 0% interest for a year or more.

Anyone with experience would be appreciated in clarifying why and when to use PRG to earn points/rewards faster.

Discover IT $19,000 == 12/2013
AMEX 12/2013 ---BCP $12,000 === BC $23,000 ----- 04/2014
CHASE SLATE $5,700 === 12/2013
BoA 123 $6000 === 12/2013
Barclay Rewards $1500 == 12/2013

I started out my credit journey on a mad mission to maximize my cash back. After reading alot of points and travel blogs I realized that points can get you a little more for your money when used correctly or transferred to partners. A good example of this is CSP which allows you to use accumulated points for cashback OR travel, most gurus advise using it for travel because the point value is greater, especially if you transfer the points to partners. Since I love traveling I decided to change my cc goals to point maximization. I wish I could answer your question a little more thoroughly but I'm still beginning my own journey and have much to learn. I hope others will chime in.

Re: Earning points faster with PRG?

Aside from spending on the 3X and 15K bonus on $30k spend, one of the most efficient ways to accrue MR rewards is through sign-up bonus promos, i.e., 75K or 100K promos.

As others have said, it depends on how you value MR.   If you transfer them for high value rewards, they can be worth much more than 1c.    But if you don't, and just use them for cash back, then this card is certainly not worth keeping once the AF comes due, because as you say there are many cheaper or free cards with equivalent cashback values.

But PRG IS aimed at spenders who can meet the $30K spend to get the bonus, and who want MR points rather than cash back.

+1. If you can't meet those two criteria, you'd probably be better off looking at alternatives that will provide a better value.
