Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

So you've had the Amazon card for over two years with only one CLI in 18, correct? Considering your score today from when you apped, I would think that you should have a higher CL on it than that. You say you only use it, so in theory it should have  heavy usage telling your lender that you need higher limit. Granted I don't have that card nor are aware of their UW. Perhaps it's time to take a HP for a CLI on the Amazon Card since you use it the most? Rather than getting another card you may not use as much?

With Util low and 760 score, that should net a decent increase. And if not call them and plead your case, a lot more can be done taling to a Human rather than letting a Computer decide.

What are all 3 of your FICO scores? Your CLs are small for an 800 score.

|| AmX Cash Magnet $40.5K || NFCU CashRewards $30K || Discover IT $24.7K || Macys $24.2K || NFCU CLOC $15K || NFCU Platinum $15K || CitiCostco $12.7K || Chase FU $12.7K || Apple Card $7K || BOA CashRewards $6K

Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

Just [ posted ] them on the last page... the reports don't show the recent CLI on the Citi card yet. Also updated my signature.

I've never gotten an automatic CLI... Citi lets you request them without doing HPs, so I used that and also called the UW when I applied for the card which let me get it higher than my first two cards.

Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

Alright, so I was instantly approved for the USBank Cash+ yesterday and just got instantly approved for the Chase Freedom. Both were in the $6,000 SL range, I don't remember exactly what the Cash+ was, the Freedom is $6,300 SL.

As a last line of business before gardening again, I may go ahead and request a CLI increase on my Prime Rewards and Uber cards. Should I wait a few days so when they do a HP they see my increased RCL or should I do it now before the reports update and reflect my newly opened accounts? Or does it matter?

Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

Are you sure that your new cl report that fast? I would think it's based on your statement date but even then, it depends if your credit report reflects the changes. Best bet is to wait to see them on your CR.

Question though is rather or not I should wait or if I should do it before the changes...

Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

I don't think it will make much of a difference either way. Your limits on your older cards aren't very large and definitely should be increased regardless.

Congrats on landing both of my goal cards that I have to garden for. 😂

lol, thanks! I've yet to be denied a card yet... knowing my luck, the first time I get denied will be one I really want.

Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

I get denied because I seek too much credit and I have the BK blemish from 2010. Honestly I burned US Bank in my BK so I'm surprised they even entertain my app and Chase will probably toss an offer for Freedom in Credit Journey when my BK drops off next year.

I have huge limits for my income though and my profile has garnered an incredible amount of success so I really can't complain about a few cards that are out of reach right now.

It is my understanding that both Chase and Barclays can be stingy with CLI requests but all you can do is take the hit and ask. You already grabbed two great cards so no need to be shy about asking IMO.

Re: Expanding. Which Cards, and Why?

Do you think ~$6k limits are reasonable for my profile at this point in time, or what should I be asking for? I reasonably have access to my housemates income, so I list it when applying. I typically say $59k annual income, $9k of which is the SSI which is tax-exempt.

I apparently have 1 derogatory mark on my Equifax from a $47 doctors office visit that the state's disability department was supposed to pay for (for the physical they had me go to when applying) that apparently never got paid and I never recieved a bill or notice for it. I mean, I'd have easily paid that out of pocket before letting it go to collections if I had known about it. I didn't find out about it until about 2 years after the fact.
