Curious about this, as well. Received a pre-approved mailer from them today. I did try to opening a checking account with them a couple months back, but couldn't complete the process. I am not in their regional area though the pre-approval letter came to my VA address. And what does pre-approval mean for them?
@I AM SO GLAD I READ THIS THREAD!!!!! Since, I too, opened up an Asterik Free Checking account just now and was given that lovely pre-approved credit card option -- Oh my goodness, lol. Got approved for the World MC 10k SL @ 14.99!! MIghty thanks to 12enjoy and CreditMagic
p.s. I also chose the Ohio State, Go Bucks debit card for my checking account as I'm another Ohioan!! Thx all

Good deal fedxboy. I have to give all the credit to CM7 on this one. Not a bad haul with a SP for checking leading to preapproval and then HP, but for 10k. It's a no brainer. Not much discussion seems to go on about Huntington here.

Also, if you do a search, you can find (hopefully) the link for the Huntington 5 Interest checking which will give you a $200 bonus when you deposit $1,000. I ended up going back and opening up this account also for the $200.
scratch that. I just read the fine print. If you are an existing checking account holder, you're not eligible for the $200 bonus
