Am not sure why they're doing this to people who's actually using the card like myself.
No late payments, no derog, nothing
Did you request a CLI in the past 6-12 months? What is your current balance on it?
Never, they did an Auto CLI from 15k to 18k. I used the card for the Balance Transfer so I consolidated my cards to FNBO. So about 80% used.

Yeah, sure, we trust you with $17,400, no problem. But $18,000? Gee, I don't know about that.
There is not logic there. They just hate credit limits with nice round thousands. Had to give a limit with an odd weird number.
I'm just frustrated that it got lowered. This is the first time that happened to me. I love FNBO due to the 2% on everything. But after this stunt, I may look for other options.

Holy crap. I haven't been on in awhile and I came back and my thread is now the "master thread" lol. Apparently FNBO never stopped!! Glad I chopped them!

@mgood - The OP replied with the card being at 80% utilization so FNBO assessed the risk on what may seem a $14,400 balance. Again, not all of the information is being provided (i.e. we just learned about the member's high balance) so it's easy to assume FNBO is the culprit. We don't know much about all the other variables, whether they're only making minimum payments, how long the balance has been riding this high on the card, etc.

80% used and no I'm not making minimum payments. Though still under Balance Transfer promo at 0% apr. I pay between 500-1500 per month. Not in a rush to pay it due to promo, I have time until my current APR rate kicks in.
@Doodlebug30 wrote:So I call up FNBO bc I hit the 4 months mark and wanted to try for a CLI. They said no bc my account was just CLD. HUH?? I have never had a cld on any account ever and I have no missed payments or late payments on their acct or any other. No changes to my credit which sit around 765 and I'm seriously baffled. I opened the card 10 months ago. I'm carrying a 0% balance of about 3k of 16,500 limit. They slashed my limit to 3150. So balance chased? But why?? So, paid off that card and I'm closing it today. I am pretty mad bc they did this right at statement cut and now it shows I have a card at 95% utilization. Should I let one more statement generate (with a zero balance) or just close it now? I really want to close it now but I want what's best for my fico ... Thanks.
Hey @Doodlebug30 and all! Happy holidays. So I am now in this lovely group of peeps that just had a CLD w/ FNBO. When I first app'd in April 22 I was prequal'd w/ my highest SL of $5400. I did not use the card much for the first 6 months or so but the past 2/3 months I have used the card a ton with about $4k charged. Last week I PIF $4272.36. I get a notification yesterday that my account was CLD down to $500!!!!!! So $5400 > $500! A $500 credit limit. What????? The only silver lining of this was that my balance is zero so it isn't affecting my utilization. But this is just shady AF. Yup any bank, CU or FI has their rights to do this BUT why? They approved me to begin with. This is awful. Thank goodness of my recent new NFCU CC. Of course this is JMHO, but I do not believe this is a great way to treat their customers. Up until the PIF all was dandy. Figured I would just add my story to this master thread, hope the DP's help.
Just adding for data points. FNBO Evergreen opened Feb 2021 with opening CL of $10k. Used card every month between $300 and $2k spend & PIF each month. CLD to $500. I paid the balance of $350 the next day and then closed the account. No hard feelings, just not sure what spooked them.

@dssgaffler This obviously is a pattern and tactic they are using, perhaps pandemic related. I work in the medical field and I am not comparing but we will continue to see and learn of many healthcare related pandemic issues for years to come. Maybe they believe this will mitigate any long term effects of the pandemic. For me personally, I do not believe this is a good way to deal with customers, so I will keep balance at zero and not "use" it at all. This card can collect dust in any drawer as far as I am concerned. Good to share with all for DP's so thank you!
FNBO did the same to me about 14 months ago or so. I had a $7500 limit on the Ford card and $4700 on the Jeep card. At the time I ran them up made minimum payments for about 3 months then payed the whole amount off on both. As soon as I paid the Ford card off they CLD'd it to $1000.
They never messed with the Jeep card oddly enough. I stopped using there cards after that and did the sock drawer thing as I got a Cap1 quicksilver and latter Apple Card that earn better anyway
