Fico 660/665 - Which credit card?

Never had a credit card.

My current FICO is EQ 660 and TU 665. 1 student late payment 5 years ago. No other baddies.

Do I HAVE to go the secured route?

I was thinking of applying for the Bank of America. I've heard of a 99/500 secured offer which sounds like a good deal if you apply for an unsecured card and get denied. Does that go for any of their unsecured cards offered? Is there one unsecured card that is easier to get with them than others? Or would I be better off just applying for a fully secured.

Not necessarily. I would walk into local cu with credit report and fico score and talk to loan officer and gauge approval chances. I bet one would give you unsecured one. Once it reports, would consider an easy store card to be safe. Wait six months, then get a couple more major credit lines.

Possibly OP came back and couldn't locate the original thread and reposted the question thinking perhaps the first attempt hadn't been successful.

ETA:  Whenever you see something like this, it's best to just let the mods know about it by using the Abuse Report option available on all posts, rather than asking posting on the thread itself, so that we know about it as soon as possible and can take appropriate action.

Locking this dupe thread, though, and asking folks to post their responses to original thread here.

(edited again only to fix a punctuation typo)
