First Premier

I received a pre-approval offer in the mail from First Premier... $700 limit with $175 in fees leaving me with available credit limit of $525... Fresh out of a chapter 13.. would this be a good idea or leave it alone.  i hear first premier can put you thru the wringer.  Not wanting to be raked over the coals trying to improve my credit.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: First Premier

Thanks I have a secured card with USAA ($400)  and was recently approved unsecured with Wells Fargo ($1K).  I don't feel comfortable with the high fees.

Re: First Premier

From my personal Experiance with First Premier cards they do report to all 3 credit bureaus (I had 2 of cards 250 CL, and 300 CL)
but they do charge AF's which I didn't like and even if you have 0 balance they do charge couple of dollars in tax or membership thing
i don't remember what it was i just remember my friend telling me why are they charging you this for this and that try to get it taken out i dont know if they still do that or not

all i can remember is even with 0 balance i'll wind up paying 3 bucks

only good thing about them i remember liking was that if you call to cancel they will try to keep you and waive or credit you for wanting to cancel with them
and they report to all 3

Re: First Premier

It's what they call maintenance fee...yes it's a big thorn in the rear which is why I closed them. It did its purpose and now it's time to get better cards Smiley Happy even if I pay in full each month they always charge 8.25 for maintenance and they slap interest right after that so my statements would always report almost 8.50 each month. Lol. Good thing I don't have em anymore Smiley Wink

In the immortal words of the Robot;

"Danger Will Robinson, Danger.  Danger."

Did they ever name that Robot or did it have a name?

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.
