Fraudulent acitivity was suspected on my checking account, however I had already scheduled a payment from the account. The payment bounced because the bank would not cover it until the details were sorted out.
In the meantime, Synchrony closed my TJMax Mastercard - because the payment was sent back. However, during this time I made 2 large payments using another checking account, once I was informed by my bank about fraudulent activity. I have a $788 balance on a $7500 limit and my card was closed!!! I also had an excellent payment history.
I did not know my card was closed until I went to make another payment, my third in 1 month, and the account was notated as closed. I called Synchrony. They rehabilitated the account removing negative remarks and will update with the bureaus. But, the account is still closed although, I am not at fault. The rep suggested I reapply. I don't think it's "fair" (if that word has any meaning anymore) that I am being held accountable for something outside of my control. In addition, I would have to take another hit for an inquiry for this incident!
