GE statements

So I have a Penneys card with $150 CL.  Never had a CL granted because I never used it because of the CL, that vicious cycle.  So, I used it and PIF a week later so it wouldn't report a balance.  I'm counting statements to know when I can request a CLI, but still no statements have generated.

My question is do you have to report a balance to have a statement generate?

Re: GE statements

I've got quite a few GE cards (as well as the JCP card that you've got, too) and this is my experience:

If you don't have a balance, NO statement will be generated.

For example, I've had my JCP card since February of this year - since that time (5 months), I've had only 2 statements. When I had a balance, a statement was generated. When I used the card but paid the balance off before a statement was due to cut, no statement ended up being generated.

HOWEVER, I did receive a CLI the fourth month of having the store card - and I did and currently still use the card every month.

Hope this info helps...

Re: GE statements

Statements won't generate when you're not carrying a balance, but instead PIF.  I've used my Lowe's card 6x max since 2011.  I PIF'd each time before the statement cut except for once.  Even so, I wanted a CLI and when I tried online, I had no luck.  However, called the backdoor number, told them I'd like $2,500 and after verifying info, they approved the increase.  GE is pretty generous, and now it seems like I don't have to use the card much to increase the limit either.  Should have had them check all of my accounts lol.

Anyhow, try calling and ask them for an increase....

Re: GE statements

I have two of their cards (Amazon and Dillards American Express) and as long as there is some activity (payment, purchase, refund, or others) a statement will be generated.

Re: GE statements

It's funny, my JCP generates statements without usage but my DH's Walmart will not.

Yeah, there's times I have a statement credit (negative balances) when the statement cuts, and I receive statements too...

Then again, that card is always used every month, so I'm sure they have to send statements to show your purchases/returns during a particular billing period.

One would think!  I would think that any transaction during the month would be reason to generate a statement whether there's a bal or not.  It's funny how all the GE stores operated CL's so differently.  My J Crew card luv button worked BEFORE the first statement & right after the 1st cut - yes twice!  Went from 300 to 500 to 700 before 2nd statement and I spent ony $68, I let it report then PIF.  Amazon - didn't work after the 4th and I use that like crazy...  penneys no luv at all ever, have had it almost a year but used it only once so it's ok.
