Probably a non-issue, I'm guessing my $1600 Wally card that I've generated maybe 7 statements on in the course of 18 months will be left alone but if they whack it they whack it. I'm sort of tempted to close it anyway but I like my regular monthly FICO.
@Anonymous: I agree there's more to the story in this one poster's case (there is with every story of AA), but the timing doesn't surprise me at all. Will state though a 607 doesn't completely suck in today's credit card market, and I suspect it was more of the number of accounts and the high balance on one of them, possibly compared to stated income which is what the query caught.
Sorry to have bothered anyone who thinks I'm lying...
To those of you who might have an interest...my score is 607 as of today ...it fluctuated from 650-680 most of the time before a couple months ago my credit score was lowered because of a 30 day late payment to another lender (not GECRB) that has been cleared up and I am good standing with this lender at this time....if I had made late payments on GECRB accounts or defaulted in any way to them I would completely understand their actions. It is possible when they checked my credit to update their accounts my score was lower I guess would be the only reason. I guess all I can do is pay the accts off I have balances left on and move on. It's weird how a company that gave me a chance a few years ago helped me build credit is now taking it all back.
Maybe if I sent the information from my bank explaining to the other company that I had the 30 day late with about my debit card# compromised and caused the payment to be refused is why I had a late payment they might understand. The other company adjusted my payment status so it dropped the 30 day late off my credit report.

Didn't say you were lying... I was just pointing out the 607 score as the reason they did what they did.
A 30 day late could very well set off red flags.

there we go... people aren't calling you liar but it takes us to page 2 to get the good stuff... OP this late is exactly why GE took the action it did... I would send an email to the executive department... check your private messages, I will send it now... send them an email listing all your accounts and saying which ones were closed and which ones were CLD and that you assume it's because of a 30 day late that was reported on your credit report a couple months ago, and then go on to explain (IN SHORT ORDER) that it was a bank error, and that it is corrected, and they can pull a new copy of your TU to see that it is corrected and not there.
Now what you can't explain away is your current TU score if the late has been removed... I mean I get it is because they closed all your accounts at once but that tells me that you probably have some pretty high util... I would still for sure do your best to keep it to a short and sweet email asking them to please reinstate the accounts... someone will call you shortly if you leave your number.

I don't think anyone has suggested you're lying, but a 650-680 -> 607 is a large shift for most people in any sort of mixed file status. Out of curiosity where are you getting your scores from? What other accounts do you have besides the store cards as unless your balance dwarves your other cards (or you don't have other open revolving tradelines now, which appears to be a big no-no from a FICO 8 perspective) that drop is large. I have a crappy file but I only lost 40 points for a new tax lien even on TU 8, so I can understand some skepticism.
You can plead your case with GECRB, it may or may not help at this point; otherwise as you suggest move on. Long term it won't matter, short-term ugliness.
I use the FICO on my Wal mart card acct. I do have a high utilization especially now after the acct closures. It is about 70% now and it was 55% before.
Here are my accts affected:
Dillards---$1600 limit $0 balance---closed
Sams Club--$1100 limit $556 balance---CLD to $560
Wal Mart---$1700 limit $1100 balance---no action so far
Lowes---$1100 limit $865 balance---CLD to $870
TJX---$400 limit $0 balance----closed
Gap--$400 limit $0 balance--closed
Old Navy--$900 limit $0 balance---CLD to $200
Credit score before 30 late 687
Credit score after 30 day late 602
Credit score 1st month after 30 day late removed 657
Credit score after adverse actions from GECRB 607

what other cards and balances do you currently have?
I think I'm just surprised that they would take such a drastic action when there was never a problem with any of their accounts specifically. I didn't have great credit when I got the accounts so I don't get it but it is what it is. Apparently it is not something that is happening to very many people which is good. I think I got a random acct screening and they think I am going to run because of a lower credit score and not from past history which is 23 years on my JCPenney card which hasn't been affected as of yet. As I said it is what it is.

i sent you the email to send a message too... they are usually very nice out of that department and might just get a nice surprise!

Given the large score fluctuation, I highly recommend pulling a copy of your TU (you're entitled to a free copy, since a lender took AA against you based off their information) and go over it to make sure there's not other surprises on there.
