I thought I had this in my notes, and I did a *light* search for the answer on the forums, not seeing the needed answer & I am being honest that I am lazy today and I hope one/some of you guys could give me a refresher on this ![]()
I once had the Amex Blue Cash Everyday, upgraded it to the BCP, and I have had the BCP ever since. I see the BCE comes up on my Experian email ad (no ding) and it mentions the following :
I could really use the 0% Balance Transfer right now, and with being a new homeowner, I know I could *easily* spend that $2000 and get the bonus. I know there is some "lifetime" language as it comes to this, so I ask : Can I app for this and take advantage of this offer if approved? Or will I get rejected or not get this offer since I had this one time before?
Also - what's the current ruling when it comes to # of AMEX cards you can have? I remember during Covid it was like 5-ish? Check my sig, am I at my limit? Because if I am, no sense in even trying for this card then.

How long has it been since you last got the BCE bonus? The "lifetime" period is around 7 years. Experian offers are just marketing and they don't account for specifics like that. They have shown me matched offers that I would be outright denied for. Even if it hasn't been around 7 years yet, you could still get approved for the card, it just wouldn't have the SUB.
AFAIK, the soft limit is still 5 revolvers, with hotel/airline cards counting and charge cards not counting. However, I've seen DPs of some people getting approved for more than 5...and plenty rejected, so YMMV.

Rebuilding, FICO 8s as of December 2025:
Its between 4-6 "Credit" cards, the Charge cards do not count(Green, Gold, Plat)
Also im not sure if it counts an upgraded card for the 7 year lifetime language.
Your Business cards should not count to that limit iirc.

I was approved for the BCE back on 01/12/19. I don't recall how soon I got the bonus, if there was one for that card at the time. If there was a bonus to be had, you gotta figure I got it within 6-months or sooner of 01/12/19.

My guess is you'll get the card with a soft pull, but they will deny you the SUB. Keep your reports frozen when you do the pre-approval. Good luck!

I once had the Amex Blue Cash Everyday, upgraded it to the BCP, and I have had the BCP ever since. I see the BCE comes up on my Experian email ad (no ding) and it mentions the following :
- Intro bonus: Earn a $200 statement credit after you spend $2,000 in purchases on your new Card within the first 6 months.
- Intro APR: 0% on Purchases and Balance Transfers for 15 months
I could really use the 0% Balance Transfer right now, and with being a new homeowner, I know I could *easily* spend that $2000 and get the bonus. I know there is some "lifetime" language as it comes to this, so I ask : Can I app for this and take advantage of this offer if approved? I don't even know if amex will give you a BCE, sub or not, while you're a BCP cardholder
you will probably be in pop-up jail, which means no SUB, no intro APR, no BT
it's not 100% amex will even allow you to do a BT, even if approved with the SUB
the real answer here is just get a BBP for its intro APR, or look at a different issuer, US Bank's shield card is 24 months, 0% apr

Thanks for the suggestions @GZG ![]()
the USB Shield seemed interesting until I saw "Balance Transfer fee of 5%". I have the PNC Card offering me 4% BT Fee right now for 1-year 0% APR, so I was hoping for 0% BT Fee.
Reading more into the AMEX BCE specifics online, I think I am seeing 3% BT Fee. If that is the case, I'm not going to even bother just to save 1%.

you have navy federal, could just close one of your cards, apply for another platinum card and move the limits from your other cards over to accommodate the BT

They will. That part wouldn't be an issue. I did it, and got the SUB on both (before they added family language) 1 year apart.

Chopping Block -

@unsungivy is there a 3% BT fee with your BT offer?
