And the perks keep coming. I just got an email about Chase Sapphire cardholders getting Gold Status at Shells gas stations. Depending on your spend categories you can get up to 35cents/gallon off. Anyone else get this notice? I'm still trying to figure out how it all works. But this certainly takes more bite out of that $450 AF.

Chase has been doing this for awhile with the Freedom card. The Gold status gives you $.05 off per gallon. To get the higher amounts you have to use the card at certain grocery stores or restaurants with the restaurants being the same ones used by most credit card dining programs. So while good I wouldn’t get too excited until you see if using the card for the Fuel Rewards is better than other programs or if you even shop or dine at the programs locations.

Okay. This is my first time hearing about it. As I dig a little deeper I can see that they are very specific restaurants. None we really frequent. We do use Grub Hub I'll have to see. But linking my card couldn't hurt. I see that you have to use Priceline to get the discounts from travel. Hmmmm. Meh. I think I saw something about it when I signed up for the IHG card which is a World Mastercard.
Has anyone else been able to take advantage of this partnership enough to where it is worth it pay attention? lol

Yeah, I saw that email also, but for me I don't consider that a valid perk since CSR is not a card that I would use for gas, since it's only 1 point per dollar. Also, Shell Fuel Rewards Program offers Gold status to all new members for 6 months, and the only requirement to keep it is to fill up 3 times in a 3 month period. The fuel rewards could be a good program though if you link a good gas reward card to it; will be an additional savings at the pump on top of the rewards from the card you use.

I think it depends on what you're doing with your rewards.
If one has both the CSR and the Freedom Unlimited, then sure, use the Freedom Unlimited to get 1.5 UR points/dollar.
If someone is getting 2% cash back, then it doesn't matter much because you can get at least two cents per point in value our of Ultimate Rewards if you use them correctly. I don't have an Ultimate Rewards card, but I can tell you Hyatt points can go pretty far, for as much as 3-4 cents per point, and they transfer 1:1 from the UR program.

I don't even have a Chase CC (but have a checking and savings account with them) and I got this offer a few days ago. I don't use Shell that often but T-mobile occasionally gives 25 cents off a gallon at shell on T-mobile Tuesdays which adds up to 30 cents off a gallon.
The rewards were through Comenity Fuel Rewards MC and they were very good. Unfortunately, that CC will be no longer in a month. I have connected my other CC through the Shell Fuel Rewards points card and have saved over $0.55 a gallon and I only purchase Regular. I am kind of hoping by showing some loyalty and still using the Shell loyalty card that I will be offered a replacement CC. Nothing yet. Though Shell sends me a lot of emails regarding using the card.
Received this notice as well, but I get gas maybe once every other month and gas doesn't earn 3x on CSR anyway, so it's not worth the bother.

Got the email, but for me is a meh. They need to come up with something better than that lol
I use my Discover 5%$1 spent for the 3 months out of the year then my PenFed 5x/$1 spend for the other 9 months. AMEX BCE is also good with their 2% or BCP or 3%.
Anyone else get this email today?
