Hi all.
Recently got my credit to a respectable place - need some advice on which card I should get to add to my collection of 1.
Currently have a Discover IT with 3600 limit - incread to this today.
1 derog 4+ years old - paid.
Credit Scores for Equifax, Transunion, and Experien
678 - 685 - 692, respectively.
What can I get? Preferrably only cash back cards with very low annual fee, but preferrably no annual fee
I want to boost my score more, and have very few open accounts - just my Discover and a car loan.
Thanks for the help everyone.
For a nice 1.5% CB card I'd recommend the C1 Quicksilver, it has a nice and easy SUB right now too.
If your derogatory is with Discover I'd recommend looking into deleting it based on good faith, I forget the exact terminology but there is some good examples on how to go about that on this forum.

I had a capital one and i just paid Midland Credit to get it deleted, so I dont really want them again. Didnt they buy Discover anyway??
My derog was for an apartment, which is paid. Anything more "premium-ish" ? I know the real good cards will need a tad higher score. I dont plan on having 50 credit cards. Probably like 3 -4 max rotating along with some credit diversity.
How old is the Discover? If you're in the first year, you're getting double Rewards- effectively 10% on the quarterly categories and 2% on everything else. I'd use that for everything for a year.
If you're feeling brave, you might try for a Chase Freedom Unlimited or Freedom Flex. (I'd guess you're borderline on what they might approve. A solid year of good history with just the Discover would greatly improve your chances. )
If slightly less brave, go for a Citi Double Cash or some other 2% card.
Capital One Quicksilver would be a pretty safe move, but nearly everyone who gets one eventually wants to change it to a Savor, and it can be very difficult to get that changed, so I'd recommend getting the Savor from the beginning. I'm not sure if it's any harder to qualify for, but I doubt it.
Stay away from Credit One.

You posted that while I was typing. So forget Capital One. Yes, they bought Discover, but we haven't seen any changes to Discover as a result of that, yet.

C1 is buying Discover but we don't know for sure how that'll affect things across the two, but yeah C1 is probably off the table for a while.
I'd like to think of CB cards and premium cards to be usually separate things, aside from the new US bank smartly card, which is great if you have a lot of savings. If you're eligible for NFCU, they have a great CB card that can become a 2%

Dispute the derog. If it's paid and it's been 4 years, I am willing to bet the apartment complex won't bother to respond and it will be taken off your report.

Not sure what scores are needed to get this card, but I would recommend the SoFi MC 2% CB on all spending, no spending limits. They do not offer a SUB though, at least I don't think they do at the moment.

I think of premium cards like a PenFed or something along the lines. Surely those have CB. we prolly have diff defintions.
I had NFCU over 10+ yrs ago. Ill put them on the list along with Chase.
