I recently (2 days ago) applied for both Officemax Visa and Chase Freedom with no instant approvals. I had completly forgot all 3 CRAs were frozen due to idenity theft last year. What will happen? I have been a Chase customer for 20 years, and have a LOC with them. Will they be able to to review credit; All your help would be appreciated, my scores are EX not real 790 EQ 787 TU 801....2 inqs each on all 3 from 14 months ago. Again thanks for your help i am clueless about some of this stuff.
I believe Chase will have access, as you already have an acct with them. What bank backs the Office Max card?
US Bank? Never heard of them, no branches in southeast us...so chase most likely, but will it be soft or hard?
bump someone insight on officemax thanks guys
Yes...it's US Bank...
googled officemax visa: https://applications.usbank.com/oad/begin?locationCode=9687&sourceCode=58406&preparerType=customer&r...
You're most likely going to have to call the backdoor numbers (for the bank cc depts) and unlock your reports so they can process your app. You shouldn't have a problem based on your scores and your long relationship with Chase.
For US Bank, I think I remember that you can't get a CC unless they have a branch somewhere in your state.
There are US Bank branches in the southeast, because I've seen them in some small rural towns in East Tennessee. Check their website for bank locations. That will tell you if they're doing business in your state.
US Bank is a great institution. They resisted all the junk investing that other big-boy banks did, and they have some great cards. Maybe not shiny and glamorous, but well-managed.

I'm not sure about that, hauling. I don't have a US Bank credit card, but they sure as heck want me to have one. At least, they've sent me a minimum of eight separate offers within the last few months, and I live in CT. To the best of my knowledge, there are no branches of theirs in this state.
I do recall someone posting about OfficeMax (I think) where the poster was declined because there were no stores in that state.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, though...the apps I've gotten doesn't mean I'd get the card, and the OfficeMax thing is subject to vague details rattling around in my sometimes-faulty memory.
Like I said, I'm just not sure about this.

The restricition on nearby branch does not apply to cobranded store cards like office max.
They do restrict on the US Bank Visa secured card and probably the other single branded cards.
