Re: Good enough reason?

The Sallie Mae card looks attractive and is starting to make this decission hard.

So, everyone has been helpful this far. Though no one has really answered the question.

Is it wrong wanting another card just for the FICO credit score?

I don't see anything about Sallie Mae's card offering a free FICO credit score through Barclay in the link you provided. Are you sure?

Re: Good enough reason?

Yes. Its the same FICO score that discover offers. I love my discover card too, so I am not pushing one over another, just giving another suggestion. Better for you to read all the information and see what sounds good.

Its really up to you to decide if taking the credit hits to open and then spending the time to maintain a new card for the FICO is right for you. It would be great if you could find a card with useful benefits and a FICO, but everyone is different.

Re: Good enough reason?

I believe (as stated before) that the score they give you is a score you can get for free from Credit Karma, so I'd apply only if you want the card, not the score

Last App 10/14. FICO's: AMEX Ex 846, BarclayTU08 815.FAKOs:CreditKarma 775,CS score 771.BofA 5400,Target $5000,Barnes $8500,Amex $22k

Incorrect, I know (as I stated and others stated above) that the credit score Discover, Barclay and others are FICO scores and are not the same as Credit Karma's FAKO scores.

The Discover and Sallie Mae both offer the same real FICO score by TU.  I like my SM much better than Discover. MC is accepted more. No revolving quarters. I get the Score from both. SM credits rewards immediately.  So that's my preference.

CapOne $7500 | Discover $8500 | Amex ED $25K | Barclay SM $5700 | Chase Disney $500 | Chase Slate $5K | Target $3K | Hilton Amex $2K

What's the difference between World and Platinum? I think I'm off the fence and learning towards Sallie Mae, so long their FICO updates monthly. I have read about a few kinks in their FICO updates. Have these been resolved? I think the 5% on gas and groceries would be extremely benificial.

I have had my Barclay cards update FICO monthly, but I generate activity on them every month so....that may be part of it? Not sure.

A world MC gives you a few more perks, linked below. You do have to have (usually) exceptional credit to recieve the World Mastercard. If you qualify, you'll get it. If not, it will be a regular MC.

Understood, and thank you for adding your experence reguarding FICO credit score updates. After reading the perks, I realize that the World Mastercard wouldn't be benifical to me. However, I would gladly accept it if it was offered. Though are you likely to have a higher CL overtime with the World Mastercard over the Platinum?
