What a wonderful feeling it is to be in the positon to close a $4000 CL with no regrets. I just closed my Capital One Platinum MC rather than pay the stinking $59 annual fee. They wouldn't waive the fee and suggested I apply for a new account and then combine and close the old account. Of course I would lose 7 years of history. I don't need another "new" account, so off to the shredder they go!

If they won't waive the fee and you don't need the card, that's a perfect example of when closing is a very good idea. Well done. Kick 'em to the curb, and enjoy that $60 you've saved.
Im thinking about doing the sake thing come dec this year when my annual fee is comming up with cap 1. I bit the bullet the first year because my credit was limited. Its only 1500 so thats not going to affect my DTI at all. 59 is high. Even hough I will pay 20 for the Zync, thats way less expensive.
