I know it's not a big deal, but i find it funny becuase so many people have trouble getting WMC and WEMC upgrades on their Capital One cards.

Back on the 5th, I was able to finally PC my Capital One QS1 into a regular no-AF Quicksilver (http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/I-am-now-Annual-Fee-free/m-p/4443566). Today when I logged in, I can see this on my account:

I didn't ask for a WMC upgrade, but there it is.

And yet, I'm still pigeonholed into sub-prime cards by Capital One. The only thing that shows up for me on the prequal is a the secured MasterCard. Smiley LOL

Good for you buddy. You have outgrown cap1. Leave them be. You are in with bank of america, barclays, and chase. Life is good!

@Anonymous's funny because I opened a Quicksilver Visa platinum with them last summer @ 3k SL, got a 3K CLI a few months ago bringing it to 6k, but I called and asked if it could be converted to a Visa Signature and they said I would have to apply for a new card to get a VS...

With Cap1 you cant go from a MC to a Visa or Visa to MC. So if you have a MC the best you can do is go to World MC or get invited for to a World Elite MC.

American Express: Platinum Charge, Optima, Business Gold, Delta Business Reserve, Business Cash, Business Plus
Barclays: Arrival+ WEMC (Closed)
Capital One: Savor WEMC, Venture X Visa Infinite
Chase: Freedom U Visa Signature, CSR Visa Infinite
Citibank: AAdvantage Platinum WEMC
Elan/US Bank: Fidelity Visa Signature
Credit Union: Cash Back Visa Signature

Re: Got a World Mastercard upgrade without even trying

I could not get a WMC quicksilver upgrade from QS but they gladly upgraded me to WMC Venture in the same chat window.

They are a strange bunch.

They tell me there is no Elite WMC for Venture but I am not giving up.  lol.

Re: Got a World Mastercard upgrade without even trying

Yeah, CapOne is a strange beast in some ways.  I got a Visa Signature card with them and then asked if I could be upgraded on my other two accounts and they told me that in order to get an upgrade I had to simply get a new account.  I told them I had a Signature Visa with them so I obviously qualified and they responded with some silly answer.  At some point when all three accounts are at a $0 balance I am going to combine them all into the account which has the lowest limit, but the also the lowest APR, which used to be a HSBC Household account.  Since it is a MC I will lose all the benefits of the Signature card, but the limit will be $22,000 then.  I will then put it in my sock drawer with a small monthly charge and autopayment on it.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.
