Hi!! Ok soooo I have Cap 1 regular QS( pc from platinum) with $400 cl, Credit one $300 cl, Kohl’s $300 cl. I app for Disc Secured and was denied due to inquiries. My score has went up over 100pt in a year since I got serious about my credit. My kids dad was approved for the disc secured..... we are waiting to do it. My question is will it benefit me or make my chances of getting my own better if I am an AU on his Disc sec?? My oldest acct is about 14m old so as far as AAOA I thought it was better to have them grouped in time rather that being 3-5 years apart. Also how long does it take to reapply and have inquiries less hinder my chance.... 3m, 6m?? The lady at Kohl's really really messed me up by guaranteeing my approval everytime I shopped only to be declined 10x😒 I'm working hard on this guys so any help is appreciated💜
@Anonymous Inquiries take 12 months to become unscoreable and 24 months to fall off your report.
Since its a soft pull each time, you can feel free to keep checking the Discover prequal site. I would check back in 6 months.
Personally I'm not the biggest fan of au accounts. Some lenders don't consider them at all when you apply for your own card with them.
I see you have 3 cards (which is the recommended amount for rebuild). Do you mind if I ask why you are interested in the Discover secured card? Are you looking to replace your Credit One card?
The Cred 1 I got to have another to build with but I wish I wouldn't have only because of the yearly fee... stupid on my part since I had cap1 plat no fee. I just upgraded to QS and limit is still only $400. I never got credit steps only a $100 increase in June from $300. I just feel like this card is going nowhere and these low limits will hold me down. I want a different card with more opportunities and better reviews for what I'm actually trying to do and that's build and increase and sofar I'm in a bucket😒
I don't think being added as an AU is going to help you much with Discover.
When is your Credit One annual fee due? If it's not soon, then there's no rush.
Personally, I'd wait 3-6 months before applying for anything. I also would only apply for the Discover card if I pre-qualified for it. No harm in checking their prequal site once a month.
Also, if you didn't get your credit steps increase and made your requisite number of payments, I would call Capital One and ask why you didn't get your CLI.
Have you checked for any pre-qualified offers with Discover?
@Anonymous Understood! It is likely that your Cap One card is bucketed as you say. You can try for a cli on the next go around, I believe its once every 6 months with Capital One.
And how old are all of your cards?
I was curious because if you have had those cards long enough, and have worked on any derogs, you might be approved for a regular Discover It without going the secured route once the inquires fade.
I paid the day it was due but past the cut off time to post. I didn't know🤷🏻♀️ I called and they removed the late fee but even though I paid on the day due they still have it as late payment. On my cr it's 100% on time but in their system it's late
Yes
Yes I thought that was in my post. No offers and declined due to inquiries
I think it would but I have quite a few inquiries so it will take almost 2 years for all and maybe mid summer for a lot to be a year old
