$3k up last week - from $17.5->$20.5
I requested one via the app this week and got declined. I use it as my primary card (trying to take advantage of the cashback match bonus since I'm in my first year), pay in full*, and still got declined. 🤷🏻♀️
Hoping they'll give me some love down the line.
*EDITED TO CLARIFY: I pay balance down to ~1% by statement close date and pay to $0 before due date.
My Dw and I have not had any increases in about 5 months. Her new card that was opened in January has a sl of 1k and really hoping to get an increase on that one. I asked a few times to transfer some of the CL from the first card to the second and been denied. Need to have a credit increase available to transfer. We maxed it a few times already being the double cash back after the first year.
I would assume that most are tightening down because they have no idea what is going to happen with the economy in the upcoming future.
I think I am their version of bucketed. Not really bucketed, but on some "list" you don't want to be on. I use the card a fair amount and my history with it is flawless, as is my history with everything on my CRs. I opened it as a $500 secured card last May and bumped it to $1,000 in July. It graduated to $1,500 unsecured in December. All CLI attempts have been rejected. Meanwhile, I have three cards from other issuers at or above $10k and a couple more not far under $10k. Discover is my oldest remaining card and my lowest current CL. In other words, Discover moves in mysterious ways.
In 2018 I got 1 $500 CLI.
In 2019 I got 1 $500 CLI.
In fact, 7 CLI of $500 each since 2016, so four years. And starting to get more "no increase". In the past year I've been adding / paying / rolling various small value 4.99% BT offers, so putting a fair amount of interest payments through the card.
So was at $17,500 since Feb 2019.
Thanks for reminding me. Tried again today, and got a $3,000 CLI to $20,500.
No COVID issues here.
I just turned down my first CLI of $300. I hit 90 days on April 11, and my 3rd statement will cut April 24. I'm just going to wait until my 3rd statement cut and see if they offer more. I put about 1k in spend a month on the card and PIF.
I've been trying for a CLI this month, and no love. I started with Discover with a SL of $300 (Secured) about a year and a half ago. Graduated to unsecured $2k around October 2019. Statement doesn't cut until the 25th of this month, so I'll probably wait. Anyone with Disco cards that went from Secure to Unsecure have success getting CLI's post graduation? All I've seen lately is none. If that's the case, I may try for another soon. Looking to get my total CL up. Kinda my ultimate goal, see how high I can go. lol :-)
Haven't posted in a while but I've been a reader for 10 years now and I opened my discover in 2011 with a $1500 SL, I kept requesting cli throughout the years and especially through their infamous weekly cli allows around 2015 or 16. I still receive them often but am likely topped out. My last was in Feb for another $500 to get to $31.5k. That's while carrying a pretty decent balance too since they constantly offer the promo aprs. Love discover! Keep requesting your increases and don't get discouraged if you're stuck for a while.
I started w/ a 1k limit in Feb 2019, graduated Sep 2019 w/ a 2k limit, hit the luv button for the first time last month and got a 1k increase.
