Help me decide BCE vs Discover It

So, last week I applied and was approved for a Chase Freedom card. At the time of my application my AAoA was about 4.2 yrs with a Fico of 780 or so. My utilization is about 15-16%. For my final app before gardening I am pondering between Amex BCE or Discover It. I don't have any Amex accts so it will be a hard pull, I only have 1 or 2 inquiries on my report. I am interested in a no af card. The Discover It is appealing for its no ftf and its kinda of a well rounded card. The BCE can complement my Freedom and it would be nice to do the 3xcli to boost my over all credit.

So, what's best? I'm leaning towards Amex and I am wondering if I should apply ASAP before my AAoA goes from 4.2 to 3.6 or so once Chase reports into my CR. but the Discover It seems like a well rounded card.... Does anyone know if Discover does auto cli? Do they do hp? What are your thoughts?

Re: Help me decide BCE vs Discover It

Deff Amex bce. IMO freedom >>> discover it. Freedom has better categories and it allows you to redeem as statement credit/check in any increments. I believe discover it only allows you to redeem after you get $50 worth of cash back, which is really crappy. Both cards are connectable to your amazon account. Honestly I don't see any benefits of discover compared to Freedom, plus Discover charges the retailer more than Visa/Mastercard. The only thing I compliment Discover on is having US-based call centers. Their customer service is good but I've had great service with Freedom.

So, just get Bce. Amex bce is a great card to have but I honestly use my freedom more. I use my Amex on larger purchases because of the benefits of their extended warranties/returns plus Amex always sides with the consumer. Also, don't forget about their awesome 3x CLI after 61 days.

I don't really buy into the Discover IT hype. But i do kind of want it just so I have a complete Visa/Mastercard/amex/discover in my wallet but I don't see myself really using the discover honestly.

Re: Help me decide BCE vs Discover It

If you shop at the grocery store a lot you may want to look into bcp, if not, became would be a great choice, I love mine, also I have the discover it and the freedom, and the points that tat made are very true, I like the freedom a lot more, but you could always go for the bcp/bce and the discover it! But if you only want one card definitely bcp/bce

Just for the OP's reference if you spend over $25 a week in groceries, OR   $50 in gas a week.  Your annual fee is justified 100%

Now if you spend $25 in groceries a week AND $50 in gas a week your looking at about $150 in rewards and paying $75 for annual fee. So your still $75 up

Since most people are probably paying around $50 a week in groceries alone + gas BCP wins hands down. if your a super light spender living at your parents house probably wouldn't be worth it.

Re: Help me decide BCE vs Discover It

in my opinion I would go for Amex. the nice no ftf of discover does not really help if you can hardly use the card. have tried it in Europe and over 50% the card was not accepted and when diners was an option the discover card did not get recognized. my cap 1 visa had to step in. a no ftf card should be visa or mastercard Smiley Happy
if you do a lot of grocery shopping you might even consider bcp for sign up bonus ...saw up to 250$ for spend 1000 in 3 month ..offer about 4 months ago and not sure if still avbl...paid off my af easily for two years and then I will reconsider pc to bce.
