@chwebb1 wrote:Maybe my experience was unusual, but I tried with 3 years of credit history with a card from my CU. I'd never been late, and I don't remember what my UTIL was at the time, but the card had a $500 limit. I got a big fat "DECLINE" on the AMEX (it was either Blue Cash or Blue Cash Everyday, I don't remember now). I had to get a second credit card from my bank (at the time, it was BB&T). I gardened that for around 1.5 years, and then I was able to get my AMEX BCE and Barclaycard Ring. I don't want the OP to waste a HP for nothing when my experience says he/she is unlikely to be approved. Of course, YMMV.
You should see my Credit report for Experian lol between June 2013 and now It says 25 ( IDK some of them might be just 1 instead of 2 pulls) but Credit karma and one of the reasons i was declined for a citi thank you card a few months ago said 12 as well but this was before 2 of the inquries were about to fall off. I had a pretty high utli % at one point around 40% for 1 month and still got approved.maybe it was a stroke of luck for me but i wouldn't say it is outright impossible for him to not get approved.

I had my card since October btwI'd wait until around a year on your Discover before you get a second one. And I doubt that AMEX will approve you with that; I had 5 years of history when I was approved for AMEX (BCE). Have you asked for Discover for a CLI? I'd take the HP if they ask for it. I'd bet that you could get more than $500 with them.
Why not just try ? I got approved for a Amex BCE with low utlilty % but with a lot of of inquries on my report (12 or more) with only 5 or 6 months of reporting
I agree.. it's possible.
My vote is for yes apply for amex. I was accepted with only 7 or 8 months reporting and was accepted with score in siggy. I also only had a discover with a $500 limit and amex gave me 3k! OP with your income I think you have a good shot at it.

What is the income? I didn't see it listed. If it's a good amount, you do stand a better chance. ![]()

I'm really stuck. I have no clue if I'm a good fit for amex everday. Or if I should try elsewhere
What are your spending habits? Do you spend predominantly more on utilities/bills or gas/groceries/eating out. The way to know the right card for you is to find the cards that fit your spending patterns and if they are a possible card, apply for them.
What are your worries with knowing if you're a good fit for amex? What makes a good fit for Amex? A customer. You are that! lol
Your income is higher than mine was when I was first approved back when. lol
spending habbits include gas/food little bit of everthing lol. i just dont want to be denied ;[

Have you considered looking at Barclaycard Rewards? I think that Barclays is very likely to approve you for their rewards card.
