So pretty much if I apply to both within minutes of eachother, it's almost like as if I just applied to one (in the companies eyes)?

Not sure I understand the statement .....Hmmmm? Lol
If you pick 2 cards that pull the same CB....Example EX
The HP will show up faster than you can hit enter on the next app ....even if it's filled out on another screen
I meant in the eyes of both Amex and Chase. Anyway, do you think applying to both within the same day (rather than just one at a time, waiting to see what the desicion is for one, either accepted/denied) would hurt my chance getting either? What did you mean when you said that the order doesn't matter if it's within a 24 hour period?
Example 1: I apply to Amex only. I wait on their decision. They only see their inquiry, and the Discover inquiry. Then whether they accept or decline me, I then apply to Chase, and they see the Amex inquiry as well as the Discover inquiry.
Example 2: I apply to Amex & Chase at the same time. Both companies see both inquiries, as well as the inquiry from last year to Discover.
Do you think example 1 gives me a better chance at getting either Amex or Chase?

I would app both in the same day ....
To clarify There's no way to apply for both cards at the same exact time....it takes a millisecond that's how fast the HP will show up
The second app is going to see the first no matter what you do
Oh okay. So pretty much just apply to whichever one I want the most first (Amex), right? Then apply to the other (chase)?
If both happen to not work out, since I already would have two hard inquiries, do you think it'd be best to wait another 6 months for... let's say the Citi Dividend card or capital one, or should I just try those immediately if both don't work out? Or do both amex & chase reconsider you (if you call in same day, if they decline you) or do they generally like you to wait about 6 months to a year after reapplying for those previous HPs to not affect you?

apply for both regardless ofirst app response because they are different banks and may be different answers.
I would apply for the Freedom.
People with way worse scores and profiles have gotten it and the 1-1.5 year mark of history they recommend seems to be just something they say. A friend got it with zero history(or credit history) and only a banking relationship.
I got approved for Chase Freedom with EXACTLY 1 year of credit. (18 years old) turning 19 tomorrow. Hey check out my post http://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Another-18-Year-Old-wondering-about-their-credit/m-p/30...
I've been reading that Chase likes for you to have 1 year of credit history, but I guess I have nothing to lose. If the worst happens and I get declined by both Amex & Chase, instead of me going for the Capital One Student card, do you think I'd have a chance with the Capital One Quicksilver (the one with no annual fee)?
