How common is it for Barclays to issue $10K, 15K, or even 20K+ CL? They seem to have a stigma of being stingy so I'm curious how many here have high CLs with them.
i started at $2300 on my Apple Barclays card and get a $1000 CLI automatically roughly every 6 months....im at $5300 right now after a few years.
Barclays does issue high CLs but it appears generally for folks with optimal credit files, positive history, mid-to-high income and whatnot. My US Airways WMC is $12,500 while my Travelocity AMEX is $14,200. Like Discover, Barclays just happens to be very conservative.
I agree, Barclays seems very conservative. I recently requested a CLI from my inital 4500 to 10k in 5 months but I maxed the 4500 then paid it almost off within those 5 months. The anaylst mentioned I had other lines around and above 10k but I wasn't making "full use of them" so she was only able to give me the 10k I requested with barclays for now and if I used much of the credit line they might be able to raise it. So it seems they aren't a lender that likes to give high lines unless they see you "using" much of the CL. In my eyes, it seems responsible that you have high lines but aren't "using" much of the CL, and what you do use, you PIF and which also helps with UTL and such. I guess Barclays sees it differently.
They are so bi-polar sometimes because I feel like I hear that a lot about them saying you aren't using your lines so we don't want to give you more
but then on the flip side you use lines and they take away theirs!
my partner got $15k instant on Business Barclay.... at 4 or so months that was CLD to $6450 I think it is because of increased debt on other accounts. I tried to have it reset then but have not talked to them since....
My mom had a Business BankAtlantic back many years ago and it was instant $20k online but they don't offer that card anymore.
I know of someone that has a $25k limit. Granted it's an old trade line, he's retired in his sixties, and he has zero debt. I don't know what his FICO is..Though I'm sure it's well into the 800s.
