That is actually a good thing. I was thinking about it myself as I was denied about a year ago, and I can imagine that it woudl draw some looks, not to mention the CL's aren't out of this world either from what I have read....

I agree, the limits suck.
I got mine 6 months ago, $500 with a $48 annual fee. Not much has changed on my credit at all since then, less inq's and a few new accounts.
Last week I got approved for a $10,000 limit at NFCU on a Visa Signature.
I am thinking Hooter's will be going bye bye when the annual fee comes up.

WOW. 10k? Congrats. Quite a step up. Yes. the Hooters would hit the curb with me, I know that AF has to suck. $48 on a 500CL?

Yep, $10k on the Visa Signature, and $5k on the NAVcheck, and a $30k Auto Refinance at 5.29%. Apparently what I did to rebuild my credit was right, lol.
Yes, Hooter's will be going away shortly. They served their purpose though, and for that I will always be grateful.
Hooters got really, ummm, errrr, big several years ago when Merrick started marketing it as a rebuilder card. It was easy to get and had generous initial CL's, although it did have that weird thing about getting denied if you had a mortgage.
Then, after all the buzz about the card had hit all the various credit-related forums, they raised their score and report requirements for approval and started giving much smaller CL's. So I suppose you could say that interest shriveled dropped lessened.
It seems like they also used to start sending a Hooters magazine or catalog or something, which often triggered brisk discussions, especially when they went to military personnel's parents home addresses. ![]()
At any rate, the reputation for being a good rebuilder card still lingers, but it's certainly not what it used to be.

I had a pretty raucous laugh in reading that portion. I agree though, they do serve their purpose...I have 3 starters with one AF coming soon (Orcahrd), so I am in a position where I think I will keep it for at least another 6mos to a year, and attempt to negotiate that AF to (at least) slash it in half.
Why not apply direct to Merrick Bank (they issue Hooters).
I had a card with them right after BK. CL was 3000. no a/f.
I closed the card because it is really sub prime but
it definitely served it purpose.![]()
They gave me 1k with no AF and 16% interest. When I got it my scores were lower 600's so I couldnt complain. Ive had zero issues with them so im just going to keep it and let it age. Im much happier with them than orchard or applied bank.

Merrick stopped excepting direct applications for credit a couple years ago I believe... you had to get a mail offer but Hooters you could apply with no offer.

As cute as the card is, the AF would be a deal-breaker for me. ![]()
