Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

Ok, so my 6th statement cut this month on the 10th, I thought I did everything right, and was disappointed to NOT get the usual "6th month cli". I pif every month, use the card A LOT, and heavily, make several big payments a month, and twice I let a small balance carry over ($63), then pif immediately.  My total overall revolving credit was 1% reporting on one card at the time, and my TU score had actually gone UP by 5 pts since opening the card.

The only thing I think of as to why I didn't get my cli was......(data points)....I had probably 6 new Inquiries and 3-4 new cards since opening Barclays.  So, they liked me enough not to close my account since they are SO sensitive to that, but not enough to give me a cli. I haven't changed my spending habits with them. My question is... I know some people have gotten their increase on the 7th or 8th statement. My next statement will cut on 09/10/14, and that will be my 7th sm.  Should I have a $0 bal, or carry over? If carry over how much? A few hundred?? Plus I'm in the garden... So they may want to see no apps or new cards for another 6 months from me.

Any advice is much appreciated!! Thanks:-)

Hopefully you'll be surprised and happy on or about the 10th

I'll be pulling for ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

I feel your pain... My 6th statement just cut on my Arrival + and no auto CLI here either ;-(. Hoping for the 7th or 8th statement also. I have Barclays Rewards that just cut its 12th statement but app'ed for the Arrival + before that 6th statement and didn't get an auto-CLI. Fine, but nothing for either one now. Sigh...

Like you, lots of new accounts may have done me in. Still, I put lots of spend on the Arrival + and a little on the Rewards, ran a healthy balance this month on the Arrival+ and let the statement report - no CLI in sight. Hopefully 7th or 8th statement or even 13th or 14th - I'll be happy with an auto-CLI on either card.. Gardening so I won't take an HP for a CLI, just have to wait. Got SP CLIs on 3 out of 5 of my new accounts but my Arrival+ is my go to card.

I sure hope you get one too!!! If I didn't have all those new accounts and inquiries, I may have gotten one.... Maybe. Im just sure if I should let a balance report or be $0 at the statement cut!

Auto CLI's are tricky to predict.  I'm sure Barclays has some magic formula to determine whether or not you get a CLI; the new accounts don't help because it says to them "hey this person does not need more credit".

I wouldn't screw around with doing a BT or carrying a high balance.  Just keep doing what you're doing and one will come eventually.

Good luck!

Re: Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

My Barclay Apple started at $1200... I put $800 worth of Apple stuff on it and paid it down over 5 months... statement 6 I got an an auto CLI to $2200 with a letter that said "Barclay would like to thank you for your responsible card usage." Every month since then I've used the card for $200-$500 per month and have PIF BEFORE the statement cuts. That's 5 straight statements with a $0 balance. My 12th statement is 9/12. Will I get another auto CLI? We'll see.

On a side note, what Barclay calls "responsible card usage" and gives me a CLI doesn't work with CapOne... I had similar usage on both those cards and PIF and get a CLI denial due to "not enough card usage" and have to call the EO to get a measly $500.

Go figure...

Re: Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

As you already surmised, I bet it is the inquiries and new accounts that spooked the auto CLI.  Hopefully you will see it come through in the coming months, as the inquiries and new cards age.  From all that we have pieced together, Barclay is not a big fan of inquires and new accounts.

I am curious about what they will do with me in a couple of months.  I am just about at my 4th statement.  I have done just like you, in regard to using the card, and PIF before the statement cuts, other than one month I let $63 report, then paid immediately.  My overall Util is about one-half of one percent.  Where I differ is that I have no inquires and no new accounts since getting Barclay, so it will be interesting to see if they show me any love.

Re: Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

September is my 6 month with the BarclayRewards card, I am guessing I am not going to get an auto cli. I've opened several new accounts this past month including a Barclay Apple, so if for some reason I do get a cli I will be more surprised then anyone!

Re: Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

I Have read on barclays website and was told by a soso Barclays rep that they like some balance and some balance carry over which is the oppisite of PIF before statement cut. Of course YMMV and some that have followed balance carrying have also not gotten auto CLI's

Re: Hoping for a Barclays CLI on 7th or 8th sm...help??!!

I added 5 cards after opening my rewards card and still got my CLI. I let a balance of 500-1000 (of a 1800 cl) sit on my card (heavy use monthly with gas and groceries) and at 6 months, they increased me to $3600. When my 0% Apr ran out, I PIF and transferred all my CL to SallieMae. I think there is some sweet spot for them that is a carries balance, but not too much balance and heavy use. First time I PIF is when I paid off the card.
