Call it being stubborn, but I would much rather wait for AMEX to automatically increase my CL on my Blue Cash Everyday card (got the card back in April of last year) than request the CLI myself. This card was the start of my relationship with AMEX so it is my only card with them (I have three others with different banks). Can anyone chime in who is in a similar situation as to how long it took you to get your first auto CLI from AMEX?
Unfortuantely, I cannot provide an answer for you on this question...HOWEVER...I can tell you what my experience has been. I've been a member for 7 years and have never gotten auto CLI. One time I called and they asked me if I wanted to request increase, second time was initiated via website. You can request increase over phone or online without even talking to someone, and no hard pulls...no brainer!
Have you been using the card? What is your CL?
I would imagine if you max the card out a couple of times a month and PIF each time before statement hit, they may auto CLI.
If the card say have $5k and you spend about $1k per month and PIF...I don't see why they would auto CLI you.
Besides, why wait when their policy said you can request a CLI every 6 months? Just saying........but I am curious to know too! Although I will be hitting the CLI button every 6 months on both my cards til it hit $24,999K CL
And that will be by the end of this yr.
Once upon a time, AMEX would automatically CLI on the original Blue cards. I had one in 2000 and started with around a $1000 limit, working my way up to $5000 with periodic auto-CLI's. That was a long time ago, and I do not believe they still do this on any cards.
Technically, one can start asking for CLI 61 days from activation then after than every 6 months.
I wouldn't wait... no point really, it's different if you are talking about a Chase card where if you request it's going to be a Hard Pull vs auto it's not a pull... but we are talking about AMEX, it's never a hard and you can request 3x limit... don't sit around and wait, do it yourself, it's instant, if denied, go back next month and do it again!

I thought if you get denied you should wait 6 months?
I'm curious about this as well. I requested a CLI from $3K to 4K exactly 6 months after getting my BCE card and was shot down. I always PIF and charge about $1000 on it every month. The funny thing is that when I check my spending limit online it is approving me for $4000.
I was thinking they work like GE, if you are declined you can apply again in 1 month but if you are approved then you have to wait 6 months amex, 4 months GE
