I only have 3 CC's (4 if you count the corporate, but that's my company's really). And I only got the Walmart Discover last month to get the free Fico scores.
I don't get the numbers of accounts some have. I can see wanting a decent amount of available credit, but beyond that why would you want to have to keep track of 30+ cards?
I run everything I can through the Costco AmEx to get the cashback. I have the Visa for a back up and for places that don't take the AmEx.
I'd rather get healthy CL's from a handful of cards than make my own playing card deck.
I don't know. I figure get the best card (rewards or whatever benefits you the most) you can for each brand (Visa, MC, Disc, AmEx) and work to get the limits you need to take care of biz-ness.
I may add a real Discover card at some point (vs the Walmart Discover @ 23%). But I don't know if I can really rationalize the need. I haven't found any place that accepted MC or Disc (don't have), but not AmEx or Visa (have). And if I maxed out the limits I have on my cards now, it would take me years to pay it off. While it's nice to see big CL's, it's not like I can realistically expect to be able to fully utilize them and not shoot myself in the foot.
Can you really say that you derive a benefit from every card you own that outweighs the cost and effort of keeping track of them all?
{and Credit Karma can take its Grade of "C" for my number of trade lines (13) and stick it where the sun don't shine - I can't believe that they want more than 21 to give you an "A"!}
I might have already posted in this thread.. Oh well.

I assume you make well over $100,000 a year for this level of potential exposure? Just curious because I haven't seen anyone on here with that level. If not, how do you get limits that high on a sub-six figure income?
