How agreeable is Discover when it comes to PC, or multiple lines? Discover it/cash back/travel

I just got approved for a Discover it chrome card, and I was very excited to see the approval as it is currently my highest limit, so for a SL I was pleased! 🥳 I used their preapproval tool and it showed me their various it cards, including the cash back with rotating categories, and the travel miles version. I chose the chrome card hastily, but now I'm wondering if I should have chosen the rotating categories card? Travel might be useful to me later, but isn't a fit for now. Realistically, restaurants and gas are major spend categories for me, the only other thing I see on the calendar for the 5% on the other card that appeals is groceries, and I think I could easily add another card later on for that category if needed. Or a flat cash back card that does better than 1%. I don't know that I trust myself to keep up with a complicated reward category scheme of any kind.

Should I just let it be and enjoy the approval? I might be overthinking. I didn't apply for a card because of perks, it's just a bonus, I am trying to build my file with better accounts that I will hang onto. I've got a few accounts that I may or may not keep forever, but getting my foot in with Discover feels like a step forward! As I said, travel might be handy later, how agreeable are they to multiple lines?

First post here, though I've been reading through all the info collected here for months already. Thanks everyone for your contributions! Wish I had found y'all before I opened a few of the stinkers I got when starting my rebuild.

The Discover it Cash Back, with the rotating 5% categories, is the only one that really interested me. It seems like a keeper even when you get where you can have any card you want.

I have no idea how Discover is on product changes, but I know there are lots of people here with multiple Discover cards.

Just chat then or call, they allow PCs. 

I don't know if this being a brand new card changes anything, but you have nothing to lose.

I called and successfully asked for a pc on my 3 month old Discover Restaurant and Gas card. I believe I read you can do a product change after your 1st statement.

I believe in time you will outgrow this card.

The 5% rotators can serve a purpose for many more years.

It might be something to consider if they will PC

@zonderzorgen I started my Discover journey in 2019 and I had the chrome it card as my first card with a 5k limit. Last year I decided that I want all cash back cards with the highest percentages I could get. I chatted with a CSR on the chat and asked for a product change to the Cash back It card and haven't looked back since. The cash back card is the only one of interest to me in their product line, but long story short yes you can do a product change, or you can hold another card with them. I think the max is 2 you can have open with them at the same time, but don't quote me on that.

Spend a bit on the card and after your first pay cycle call and ask for a PC to the 5% card they will do it as that's the top cash cow card.

I'd only get the 5% and skip the others if it was me it's an ok card for awhile.  I don't use it as much now but I have the kid on my account and he puts all his gas and strage stuff on it while in college. 

What can be usefull is the balance transfers if you need them.  Discover does that better than any of the big lenders.  The 0% 17 months version is great if you can pay it off in a short amount of time and they always give them out if your a good customer.  If you need to juggle CC intrest that's the way to do it if Discover gave you a decent CL.
