You have to trust me on this one. If you want even a spec of chance of receiving the sign up bonus you have to take this route. As soon as you are indentified as a current american express holder (via cookies, logging in or otherwise) you will fall under the "other" sign up bonus (in many cases nothing) There have been hundreds of data points since american express started adding this verbage, I myself have 4 amex cards within the past 12 months and have never had issues with the bonus.
I appreciate the information. I will be sure to give it a try the next time I apply for an American Express.
Feel free to transfer them to me! ![]()

I have 4 Amex card and I got the sing bonus for all of them. I got all of them within the span of a year too.
That is great! It's not looking good so far. I have literally gotten a different story every time I talk to them. I mean directly contradictory information each time. Fun times.
Now they're saying they can't do the credit re-allocation for 60 days. And this even changed in one conversation. Sigh, I don't have the skin needed to dominate in the credit world like everyone else.

From what I know, here's how Amex handles credit reallocation requests.
1. Account reallocating into must be opened for at least 61 days.
2. Account reallocating from must be opened for at least 13 months.
3. Income update request must support Amex internal risk factors for new aggregate CL.
However, as with all thing Amex, there are always exceptions. Reallocation into an account opened for less than 60 day are granted at their discretion, though I'm not sure what's the criteria for approval.
*Edited* Minimum 61 days & 13 months.

Thanks!
I spoke with a supervisor prior to applying BCE when I was weighing my options of whether or not to apply. She even put me on hold to check, and told me that when or if I applied for BCE and being subsequently approved, I would be able to reallocate once I get my card in the mail. Sigh.
TODAY The rep at first said my card had to be activated for 60 days, but then later said it had to only be opened for 60 days. I still have not activated as of yet.

Well, I suppose they now made an exception. I can do the reallocation as early as Wednesday.

There you go! Congrats! Doesn't require that thick of skin, right? ![]()

Yea I still need my alligator skin because their marketing department is "researching" the promotion although the representative pulled it up and confirmed it.
