It's not that we do not believe you but CSRs may not know the difference between MR/MRE

And also, without transfer, are MR points very different from most cashback points.

+1 when I called in I actually made the CSR aware of the difference and after about 5 minutes of him talking to his supervisor he then said, you are right, they are not MR but MRE points, Lexie is right that most CSR's dont know the difference which should not be.

People tend to view Amex as the card to show that they've made it in the credit world. I think they were viewed as being more prestigious in the past, but they were easier to get approved for than US Bank and Discover in my own experience.

Discover IT - $4,000

American Express Blue - $500

In my experience, Amex has been way more generous with me than Discover. I did have a good amount of credit when I applied to Discover, so that may be why they were stingy. Maybe I should have applied to Discover before Amex? I do use my Amex a lot more than my Discover though.

Anyway, congrats on your approval, OP! I remember the time I saw "Congratulations, we're happy to let you know we've approved your application" screen with Amex and the excitement I felt, in addition to the "I've finally made it!" feeling.

I ask another guy, and he asked his supervisor, and I was told that WITH ONLY BLUE, MR points can not be transferred to other program, but all those MR points are collected in the same pool, you CAN transfer those points if you have another charge card open.

Brittani: You can link them together into a single pool and you would have all of the redemption benefits or the best of the two levels of membership rewards.

Brittani: Are you ready to get started on your application?

Fana: So if I hold a green card or gold card, and I also have blue, I will be able to transfer the MR points to partner's program?

Brittani: That is a great question! You can link them together and then receive the the best of the two levels of membership rewards.

Exactly.  I think we are saying the same thing. You need two to get the same benefit of a regular MR based card.

in other words, the blue is a MRE but those points can be converted to real MR points if you have a MR charge card, like green gold or plat.

but by itself its a MRE card just like the zync.

Re: How did I get approved for American Express?

About 17. Shouldn't have wasted 2 more on TD Bank and BOA. Maybe one day both will like me but I doubt it. So many better companies out there.

Chase- $3,000
Discover- $4,000
American Express- $500 (will grow nicely over time Smiley Happy )
See these are way better.
