The best way to get 40+ cards is to apply for hundreds of them.   If you apply for 400, then you only need a 10% success!

Or, even easier, just list a bunch of cards in your signature.   That's what most people here do, I doubt if any forum member really has more than 5 cards.

Except @Mahraja   He has one high-limit card from every banking insitution in the country.

@pinkandgrey

I agree, @Mahraja  name is inscribed in the the walls of credit Valhalla just as Fins is.😆

It's easy to say it's easy to accomplish. Unless you've tried it.

Accumulating CCs from multiple lenders isn't that easy. If it were you'd certainly have more here that would have done it.

You assume that most people would actually WANT cards from a lot of different lenders. What some call "lender diversity" others would call "a PITA to monitor".

I have 17 cards but only need to log into 6 issuer websites.

Yeah the monitoring is definitely not something I particularly enjoy. Apps have made that process much easier but it's still tedious.

OP, I joined this forum 9/2018 with 3 cards. I have 18 cards right now and I've closed 6. I am also a low income person, coming in around $18.5K. What I did is probably not going to happen for awhile with coronavirus messing everything up. Honestly just pick cards that will benefit you, prioritize your apps based on policies like Chase's 5/24 and Citi's 6/6, and don't be afraid to burn an inquiry here and there if you need to.

Must have missed something here??? Smiley Surprised

Citi's 6/6 is 6 inquiries in 6 months. It isn't always enforced but when they do decide to enforce it, they won't recon the denial.

What is the FASTEST route to achieve a rapid 18 to 30 credit cards? aka I don't want to become an old man or senior citizen before this happens.

My guess is "The Rich get Richer" , of it simply accelerates skywards as you reach 800 to 850 FICO 8 / 9?

Sort of like getting approved is not hard at all. I am trying to reply to that common poster moderator here of how did he get so many credit cards?

In my case it was a very gradual process, spanning about 8 years. I tried to keep my credit scores decent, which is hard to do when you're adding new applications and new accounts.

There have been disadvantages. Many times I've been turned down for credit, especially for the cards I wanted the most, because I had new accounts, new inquiries, and/or too much credit from other sources.

For some people the record keeping and monitoring is a disadvantage. For me it's not because for some strange reason I enjoy it.

Keep INQ low and know that creditors often only pull one bureau for revolving accounts. Learn who pulls what, and which lenders are the exceptions in this thread: https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/General-Credit-Topics/How-to-manage-your-inquiries/m-p/6002206#M295...

Re: How did that moderator guy here and others get 24 to 32 to 40+ credit cards? any tips please?

You can see in my sig how I progressed to 20+ cards it took literally years didn't happen over night or in a few months. I started with two secured credit cards since no one would actually give me an unsecured credit card being a college student low income with no previous history, then next year my card graduated(Cap1 refused to graduate my one secured card so I closed it for my deposit back) to unsecured along with I got a couple more cards, then you see in 2019 I got flooded with credit card offers by mail and applied for cards I myself went looking for resulting in getting 12 cards in that year.

Understand if you go this path you get denied a lot and will have to not care about the amount of inquries you accumilate as they will add up fast which will result in you getting denied from some actually good cards. That is my one regret as time goes on since those inquries last 2 years and some lenders are very inqury sensitive, so always having double digit inqueries really screws you over sometimes.

The key is low utilization when you apply for a new card, but you gotta use the cards a lot for them to notice you along with that usually results in higher credit limits which also affects your utilization. Plus a high income helps too possibly living in the same residence for years on end. Maybe job title i'm sure they have tons of data to figure out what job positions are likely to increase in income, so they try to get at you early. Overall I would say just focus on low utilization 10% and below is the excellent or ideal requirement you should have when you apply for new cards. That said you can be higher utilization when you are not applying for cards to show a balance then pay it completely off to get that low utilization.

^^ This is interesting. Hadn't crossed my mind before, but I would not be surprised if this is part of it. The analytics and data crunching that goes on behind the scenes is multifaceted for sure.
