How do the AF work?

I havent quite figured out how AF work. Is it added to your balance or do you  pay it separate. For ex BCP. and all other af cc

It's typically added to your balance, and posts by the end of the statement, oftentimes before you can even PIF to get the statement to report $0!

On some cards, yes! Many AF cards offer to waive the first year's annual fee, so you won't see that sucker until your one year anniversary date's statement posts!

Correct so that date is when it will come up next year. Most of mine appear during the first billing cycle, some have appeared in the second billing cycle.

Okay would you say that its better for you to have a $0 balance when the year gets closer so that only the af gets charged and paid off on that statement.

The $75 AF appeared on my first BCP statement this morning! For some reason I thought it was waived the first year.

I was under the impression that some annual fees are broken up monthly for some cards. Is this the case at all, notable with AMEX charge cards?

My subprime cards charged monthly "annual" fees. So glad to be rid of them!

Are most cards monthly or one lump sum?
