Try a few credit unions.  They are more likely to be lenient.  Also, check out the bankruptcy boards for BK friendly CCs.

Re: How do you all do it?

Sorry to ask a dumb question but how do Credit Unions work? Dont you have to be a member? I know I keep seeing CCCU on here but did not know if I should try them.

Thanks,

Re: How do you all do it?

Gosh Debbie, your scores aren't that bad.

And no you don't HAVE to belong to a CU, but they are such a great place to seek credit and build credit, you may want to join and open up a savings account.

Why don't you go into your local CCCU office and talk to them?

I'm seriously thinking about them in particular. Have heard wonderful things about them. And who knows where it will lead?

Good luck and please keep us posted.

What is your credit limit/balance ratio?  I noticed that you said "all 6".  What are the six balance/limits.  Credit cards should only have about a 30% utility on them.  (sorry if you already knew that).  When you said that you couldn't afford to pay them right now, the first thing I thought of is HIGH Balance on your cards.

Re: How do you all do it?

Are all those charge-offs, collections, and judgement after your BK was discharged? If so, then I would think that would have alot to do with it. And if these happened before your BK and you included them all in your BK, then they are reporting wrong and need to be fixed....I know once I got my accounts to report correctly after my BK in '03, my scores shot up big time. Plus I gave it several yrs before I even applied for any new credit.

Some CU's do require you to join, but it's pretty easy. They used to be very narrow in their eligibility categories, but they've really broadened recently. One in my area advertises that "If you live, work, drive, shop, dine, or go to church or school in XXXX county, then you can join!" (Pretty much sums up our lives, except for attending SEC sporting events. We are locally now turning our attention to women's and men's basketball. Sorta early this year, unfortunately.)

A credit union is a membership organization where the funds come from the pooled deposits of its members, plus investments, such as loans and credit cards. They are a great alternative to banks, as their mission is to serve their members and return a small, secure profit to investor/ members, so they don't have nearly the feel of vultures wheeling over the lost traveler that commercial banks and CCC's often have. As Sylvia said, you might want to open a small savings account, Christmas club account etc at one locally and get to know them.

One potential disadvantage if you have your checking at a CU is ATM access. The CU's in our area have banded together to allow members to use one another's ATM's without a fee. And USAA, which is sort of a CU, refunds ATM charges at the end of each month. Since many of their members are in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations that are short on branches, they realize that you'll need to print out your money wherever you can.

Re: How do you all do it?

Willow,
No I ment I cant really afford to buy all 3 credit reports each. My 3 and Hubbies 3. I dont want to put them on the CC because we limit them to 30.00 each per month. I only charge what I have the cash to pay. Some of the items were supose to be in the BK but for some reason the Attorney did not list them so we had to keep paying and with the Providan / WAMU / LVNV they are the same card and balance was 268.00. We paid for insurance on the card and got the run around from them when we tried to get the info to use the insurance. The Judgement was not supose to be there it was paid as soon as we found out. Wells Fargo admitted it was an internal error because they sent us our check back and said we overpaid, They said we had paid our last loan payment the month prior when in fact we did owe this one. That is how we had it removed from all the other reports.
